A core presence in Star Wars since the first film made its debut in 1977, Darth Vader as we know him today has been a collective creation of many different actors, writers, producers, and directors across the decades. The character’s original and chilling appearance, clad in menacing black armor that was instantly iconic and has remained so ever since, combined the physical stature of David Prowse with the booming, commanding voice of James Earl Jones. This villain riveted the imaginations of those who saw him and has never since lost his menace, even as subsequent films, television, and even video games grew and embellished on his character.
The coin’s obverse side features an effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II that verifies it as legal tender. This is accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE,” “2022” and “250 DOLLARS.”
The reverse side shows Darth Vader wielding his lightsaber. The inscription “VADER” appears at his left, accompanied by a smaller inscription at the rim that confirms the coin’s weight and gold content and shows the copyright and trademark of Lucasfilm.
