Similar to other gold coins for sale, the Australian Gold Kangaroo Series is available from Perth Mint on an annual basis. There are four coins in this series that have been available each year since the debut of the 1987 date mark. These include the 1/10 oz gold coin, the coin that is currently the smallest in the series.

Over the course of the history of the series, the Australian Gold Kangaroo coins have seen varying weights come and go. The first addition to the series came in 1990 as the series switched from the Gold Nugget to the Gold Kangaroo. This year saw the addition of a 1/20 oz gold coin. In 1991, a 1 Kilo coin was added to the series.
Other additions over the course of time include a 10 oz gold coin and a 2 oz gold coin. In 2010, Perth Mint removed the 10 oz and 2 oz gold coins from the series. In 2012, the mint also canceled the 1/20 oz gold coin, bringing the coin series down to its current size of five options each year.
