The 1 Gram Canadian Gold Maple Leaf was first introduced in 2014 as the final addition to the Maple Leaf series, expanding on a legacy that began in 1979. The MapleGram format allows for convenient, divisible gold ownership with the backing of Canada’s national mint. From 2014 to 2023, Queen Elizabeth II was featured on the individual coins in the MapleGram, with all MapleGrams from 2024 onward featuring His Majesty King Charles III.
Obverse designs on the 2025 Canadian Gold MapleGram coins include the first-generation effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Designed by Steven Rosati, this bust is only the second British monarch portrait for Canadian coins created by a Canadian artist. Rosati’s design debuted in 2024 and shows Charles III in left-profile relief without a crown.
On the reverse of 2025 Gold MapleGram Coins, each one showcases Walter Ott’s enduring sugar maple leaf design. Introduced in 1979, this national symbol of Canada remains a consistent and recognizable feature across the Maple Leaf bullion series in all metal types and weights.
