The cultural, historic, and geopolitical ties between the United States and the United Kingdom have best been defined in the 21st century as a special bond. That special bond is evident in the precious metals marketplace, as the US Mint and The Royal Mint have partnered on bullion coin releases in the past. However, the 2024 Liberty & Britannia Series offers a new level of partnership between two of the world’s largest sovereign mints.

Liberty and Britannia have been stalwarts of coinage for the respective nations for thousands of years. Britannia, alone, has appeared on coinage issued in the British Isles since the Romans first issued a coin with her effigy in 79 AD. Britannia has regularly graced coinage of the United Kingdom since the late 17th century.
In the United States, Liberty has been a part of American currency since the very founding of the United States Mint. When the first truly American coins were issued in 1795, Liberty’s bust was present on several denominations. Today, Liberty and Britannia still symbolize their respective nations, and in this unique release, they come together to symbolize the enduring connection between the two countries.
