I have often wondered whether politicians gave a second’s thought as to what their speeches, remarks, and actions would have as far as the future of the world or their own nation. Take Bush’s Sate of the Union speech of a few years ago, when he came out with the now famous “Axis of Evil” remark, branding certain nations as evil. Did FDR ever stop to think what his anger at Japan over the ’rape of Nanking,’ would lead to when he denied them our scrap metal, access to the Panama Canal, oil, and a few other things? Did Hitler stop to think what he was getting into when he broke his treaty with Russia and attacked her in 1941? Did LBJ stop to think what Vietnam was going to do to America, or Truman think in advance about Korea?
In retrospect, JFK was a damned good President. He vowed to abolish the CIA, bring the few troops home from Vietnam which had already gone there, and some say, re-establish a gold standard. Clinton, in retrospect, aside from his under the desk activity, wasn’t all that bad. He cut welfare by huge amounts and sort of balanced the budget. How will George Bush appear a few years from now, in retrospect? I say he will be one of America’s worst Presidents, but time will tell. I saw a bumper strip last Saturday which read, “I never thought I’d miss Nixon.”
By all appearances, the world is headed for another World War, at least it appears that way to this sage. A third of the world is Muslim, and all Muslim children are taught that infidels are pigs, and are to be killed. Even in supposedly friendly Saudi-Arabia, the kids are taught that, even though they say they have reformed their school textbooks. That takes care of a third of the world. Now, Russia isn’t too happy with us, thanks to our meddling in places where we weren’t invited, and giving advice which wasn’t asked for, nor appreciated. China is just waiting for the chance to invade Taiwan, and daring us to do anything about it. Afghanistan is rapidly approaching Iraq as far as daily deaths are concerned and being out of control. None of these ’problems’ would exist currently, if America were a neutral nation. Yesterday, Bush said that Israel was a sort of sacred cow, and would be defended to the very end by America. Iran says that Israel should be wiped off the map. America seems to be fomenting and actually causing a third world war to be a reality, and to me anyway, it is absolutely frightening. What trigger will set it off? It would be a small trigger, and if someone pulls it, our now peaceful life will be over. Few react to my cry for neutrality. Few think America should defend its own shores and let the rest of the world go its own way. Oil? Would any nation refuse to sell us oil? That’s like saying a department store wouldn’t sell to a fat person, Negro or Jew, because they don’t like them. Anyone will sell anything they have for sale to anyone who will buy it.
America continuously debases its currency by recklessly increasing its supply, and perhaps more and more foreign nations will get rid of dollars causing a real economic crisis, which ’helicopter money’ not only won’t solve, but will make it even worse. Gold and silver are real money, and always have been, so those of you who have stored any surplus assets in them, rather than in dollars will be fine. I just wish America would realize that Switzerland doesn’t mess in other’s business, and has no problems such as ours. In WW II, Spain decided to be neutral and guess what? She didn’t have hundreds of thousands dead and currency value cut in half. What is wrong with minding one’s own business, defending one’s own borders, and being away from the rest of the world’s woes? I just wish someone would tell me what is wrong with being a totally neutral nation.
