The jury’s decision not to execute Andrea Yates is a total lack of common sense and a betrayal of justice. Was she nuts when she drowned her five children in her bathtub? Probably, but so what? Is anyone in a “normal” frame of mind when the kill, murder, rape, or even rob? Not in my book, because I would never do such a thing, unless my life were threatened, and then I’d empty the gun, so as to avoid an expensive trial. Is a person who drives like a maniac and kills innocents, temporarily ’insane?’ Is an arsonist ’insane’ when he burns buildings and kills people? To me, no criminal is of sound mind, or they wouldn’t be a criminal. Why should Yates not be executed? Why should the taxpayers be obliged to pay a Harvard education every year, so she can be ’rehabilitated,’ if there is such a thing? Most shrinks say that sex criminals cannot be ’cured,’ but they are released anyway, and sure enough, they usually repeat. Wouldn’t the world be a lot better off without Andrea Yates? What does she have to offer to a community, after murdering her five children? As the Bible says, to paraphrase, “An eye for eye, and tooth for tooth,” and I believe a life for a life.
Those liberals who are appalled at capital punishment, to me, are not of a normal state of mind. They are the ones who capture cockroaches, mice, and spiders, and gently take them outside, so they can resume their normal life. They are the ones who are members of PETA (Please Eat Tasty Animals), which is one of the outfits on my dislike list. These freaks destroy property such as ski lifts, to ’preserve’ forests, and pour sand in bulldozer’s crankcases, to prevent development. Ugh. A pox on the jurors who saved the life of Andrea Yates. Will this bring back to life her five innocent children? Have a great weekend.
