Executive Orders

The  Constitution says it very plainly in Article One, Section One:  “All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”  Can’t be any clearer than that, can it?  Bill Clinton, Dubya, and a lot of former Presidents abused that Constitutional mandate many times, but Bill Clinton did it more than any other, I believe.  If he couldn’t get a bill passed, he’d give an “Executive Order,” which unfortunately, people pay attention to, but I cannot understand why.

An example is his Executive Order # 13166, which begins with:  “By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the United States of America…”  The Constitution neither gives him, nor any other President the right to usurp powers granted the legislature by the Constitution.  The White House has no legislative powers, and all “Executive Orders” should be instantly stopped and never another issued again.  All previous ones must be made null and void.  What # 13166 says in so many words is that no state requiring someone to take a driver’s exam, shall require it to be taken in English.  #13166 doesn’t apply only to driver’s tests, but it also applies to Medicaid, Medicare, senior services, and just about any government program one can think imagine.  This applies to states as well, and can possibly be in many languages other than Spanish.  The conducting of government business in several languages would or will cost so many billions of paper dollars, that the consequences of it are virtually unfathomable.

The point of this however, is that no President has the Constitutional authority to ever execute or even think of an “Executive Order.”  We all know that the Constitution has been abandoned by the D.C. Gang, don’t we?  Remember when Bush the first, went to war in Kuwait with no Congressional approval?  They were away on vacation!  Ugh!
