CHANGE?

I am leaving the coffee piece below till Wednesday, because I consider it worth while.  But in the mean time, good ole Dubya is going to change directions in Iraq?  What can he do other than begin to leave?  If a building is burning, one should get out pretty quickly before it takes you with it.  Of course the burning building of Iraq has already taken his Congress I suspect, but we will see in a couple of weeks.  As I wrote many months ago, I still believe that Saddam should be set free, and we should cut and run.  The longer we stay, the worse it will get, and even Bush 43 admitted last week that Iraq does resemble Vietnam, which was a disaster for a Democrat President, (LBJ).  LBJ didn’t run again, and maybe Bush should quit, except that would leave Cheyney as the official President, and if he didn’t like it, Hastert would amply fill the shoes, and none of those would be acceptable.  So the D.C. Gang has had its way and continues to do so.  If only Goldwater had been elected!  What would happen to Saddam if he were released?  Would they immediately murder him, or want him to take over again?  Who knows?  Who even cares?  So far this month, unless these figures are lies also, and some say they are, it is 90 Americans dead, and this is only the 23rd.  And oh yes, the PPT (plunge protection team) is really spending the dough to keep the stock market up till after the elections, isn’t it?  Another bubble, just like housing.

Coffee!

I really do like coffee.  Black coffee, and good coffee.  I have discovered a small coffee plantation in Puerto Rico, owned by a doctor and his wife as a sort of hobby.  I have absolutely no interest in this in any way, but I bought a five pound bag of this coffee and it is absolutely the best coffee I have ever tasted.  It is grown with no chemicals and is totally organic.  (The doctor is a toxicologist specialist and knows what effect chemicals can have on the body). It is sun dried and hand picked, meaning that no diesel powered driers are used, and each bean is hand picked just at the correct time, so that no green or over-ripe beans are included.  He and his wife produce but 800-1,000 pounds per year, and except as you readers may wish to participate, is sold locally.  I am deeply impressed with this coffee and think you may wish to try it.  Here are the particulars:

1 lb. – $15.  2 – 4lbs. – $14 per pound.  5 lb bag $12 per pound. Free shipping in continental US for 10 pounds or more.  If you wish to e-mail your order, the e-mail address is cafedelamatta@yahoo.com. The prices reflect a 25% discount for readers of this column, which I think is a nice touch.  Your ordering this coffee will be its first entry into the continental US, and you will undoubtedly love it…if you love coffee.  (I paid full price).  I got whole beans and grind them prior to using them, but they will grind your order to suit.  The roasting of this year’s crop is now about finished, so it will be a super fresh organic coffee grown on the sunny slopes of Puerto Rico in the correct soil.  If you wish a description and order form I have it and can e-mail it to you.  Neat stuff.  Now how’s that for no screaming and hollering about The D.C. Gang?  See?  I can be nice!  Have a great weekend!
