I am certain that this will outrage a lot of you guys, but it’s only my opinion, so feel free to ignore it or possibly listen to reason. Football is the only sport which requires full body armor to play, and which sport more often than not inflicts permanent injuries and life long aches and pains to participants. Even high school football players often have life long health problems. Football is the only sport that I can think of, which requires brawn rather than brains or skill to play, other than perhaps the quarterback. Ever hear a usually black football star being interviewed? Brains? Not hardly! Football is the only sport whose object to win involves harming, tackling, rushing, and literally attempting to demolish your opponent. Football is the only sport which has a play ending with all players piled on top of each other. Even the field goal kicker is separate from the rest of the team, because it requires a bit of skill, as opposed to the rest of the beefy clods. How dumb! Look at any other sport, including baseball, tennis, golf, hockey, swimming, or even basketball. These sports require skill, coordination, athletic ability, training, and the participants are visible and recognizable in their skills, rather than piling on one another. Game five in the World Series, played Thursday in St. Louis was a classic event which showed individual skills, and the star was but 5’7″ tall.
Imagine the skill required to hit a 100 MPH round ball with a round bat, as in baseball. Imagine the skill required to hurl the ball that fast, within a designated ’strike’ area. Imagine the skill and training required to throw, catch, and make instant decisions with a baseball. Tennis, soccer, and all other sports, other than football, show each player and his individual skills rather then their weight and ability to crush an opponent. In any sport other than football, being weighed in at 300 pounds is a detriment. Remember “The Refrigerator?” I am well aware that football is hugely popular, but in what other sport is the game played in snow, freezing cold, mud, rain and anything mother nature can muster? Ever hear of a baseball game played in rain? Tennis or golf in a downpour? I really believe that Americans like football, because of a sick mentality in which they inwardly hope to see someone get hurt. Why do Americans like to witness violence and mayhem, as in demolition derbies and football? I don’t know, but I saw one demolition derby a few decades ago, and it made me sick at my stomach, as does football. Have a great weekend watching, I am certain…football.
P.S. Seen Hillary’s pix of late? I think she’s had a face lift. Seen Rush or Newt lately? They’re trying to outweigh Speaker Hastert it appears.
