I believe it was in 1972 or maybe 1973, but I remember being in Silverton, and owning the Grand Imperial Hotel, when someone told me that the government was going to begin buying food for poor people. I was dumb struck! Buying poor peoples’ food? You must be kidding! No, it was no joke, and the food stamp program began. I am certain that all the Presidents before FDR were turning over in their graves. Another welfare scheme, trying to turn us into a communist, socialistic state? Yup. Steal from the rich and give to the poor as LBJ was so fond of stating in slightly different phraseology? You bet. The epic theft of wealth from the workers and producers, and mighty transfer to those who “need it,” had just gone up another step. There will always be someone who “needs” something. The top of the staircase will be a totalitarian United States, unless enough citizens get sufficient guts to push the socialistic Potomac River Barons down the steps, so we can all start over with freedom, individual responsibility, and self help. Food stamps, like every single D.C. “program,” has been rife with wholesale thefts, fraud, and high pressure barkers urging ever more socialism and theft from the productive class. Food stamps are just another means of increasing the dollar supply, thereby making them buy ever less as each day passes. The D.C. Gang, ever more concerned about staying in those posh offices, searches daily for more ways to transfer wealth to the massive numbers of voters on the receiving end of largess, while taking it from the minority of the productive class. We’ll always be in the minority, and as each year passes and more bums vote, our minority status will get worse. As the receiving class of bums (remember the film “Come Blow Your Horn? Lee J. Cobb called his worthless sons ’bums’) grows in numbers, us poor slobs who pay and pay are decreasing. How can we help but decrease in number? Jobs are gone, factories closed, Indians answering the phones, and just about everything one has to purchase now-a-days is made in China. ” So let’s buy their prescriptions now guys. Hey, that should glom us more votes, shouldn’t it?” With every “program,” comes more printed dollars, less responsibility, more crime, filled prisons, dangerous streets, and destroyed cities. Every dollar from D.C. destroys America. All the while, the Senators and Reps are continuously sluiced and replenished with whiskey and adulation; which makes them feel important. In reality, they are the poisonous potion which is killing us all. Have a great weekend.
