Appearance is all important to the human or animal species. Ever watch a peacock strut his stuff to impress the dour female? With the exception of humans, the males seem to be the most beautiful. That’s not the point of this however. Us humans will exert lots of energy and money to appear, often what we are not. Females, it seems the plainer they are, will use gobs of makeup. Poor Tammy Faye Baker. Humans will drive or buy certain cars to create an appearance, and this has a wide range to observe. Young males will have fast, loud cars, and the more insecure they are, the louder and faster. No wonder young males cause so many accidents. We all want to appear smart, good looking, rich, or whatever to those around us. At least most of us do. I think that security, or lack of it, makes people more or less interested in appearances. Insecure people want to razzle-dazzle others with their riches, taste, and position. Who gets the key to the executive rest room? Who gets the best office?
I mention the above, because I am convinced that my clients, or those who have faith in the true money, which are gold and silver, and almost eerily inconspicuous. I am not totally sure of this, but I do believe it from those whom I have met. These people are so self confident, so sure of themselves, and so correct for that matter, that they live usually very low key lives, with little ostentation. I may be wrong, but I really believe this. When people buy gold and silver to protect their assets, they show the ultimate intelligence, logic, and taste. They have thought the process of investing through, and realized, unlike the rest of their neighbors, that true money is gold and silver, and not pieces of paper with ink on them, computer entries, or passbooks. As a result of this intelligence and logic, they will generally not care a whit about appearances or what the rest of society thinks of them. (Yes, I live in a showplace of a house, but it’s because I love old things restored, not because of show).
The owners of gold and silver are supremely self confident in their decisions to save in real historic money and riches, rather than what most save in, which is stupid. They are so intelligent and self confident, that they usually live very ordinary lives, and their intelligence tells them not to buy new showy cars, or do economically stupid things. It does take brains to survive in this day of inflation, high taxes, and burgeoning bureaucracy. I’d also be willing to bet that most owners of gold and silver are very ’libertarian’ in orientation, and if not registered as such, will usually vote that way, and may have sent Ron Paul a few dollars. I’d be willing to bet that I have few Democrats as customers! If you stop and think about it, if you are a gold and silver owner, and a church member of a church or any group, how many of the membership in your group are also gold and silver owners? I’d be willing to bet very few, if any. Most people are simply not smart. They spend endless dollars trying to create ’appearances’ rather than thinking, being logical, and doing what is smart.
What then is true wealth? True wealth is being smart, and possessing tangible things which do not decay, go down in value, and which give pleasure. Antiques? Old cars? Collectibles? Gold and silver? Books? Movies on tape or DVD? A bit of food stored for possible disaster? Tools? Efficient household infrastructure? Yes, all of these. I’m so glad that I do what I do! I talk to the most intelligent, smart, and wise people all day long. Why don’t I retire? Because it’s too much fun, and besides. I’d get bored.
