Do you know how ducks are hunted? Let me tell you. First, there is the hunter, who hides behind a duck ’blind,’ which is a hiding place disguised as reeds, bushes, or some plant life which would grow near water. The hunter then launches his decoys, which are merely dummy birds, and look remarkably like real ducks. Then the hunter blows his duck imitation device. In other words, the stupid ducks hear the call of the hunter, which sounds like a duck. They look down to see where the call is coming from, and there are some pretty nice ducks swimming down there. The stupid ducks think to themselves that they will go down to visit or mate. When they land, POW! The hunter’s shotgun goes off, peppering the duck with bird shot and the duck is dead. The hunter then wades out to retrieve the duck or sends his dog out to get it. Why do I mention this?
First of all, the dead duck has very little meat on it. The two breasts are all that is usually eaten, and the rest is thrown away. One meal for the hunter is about it, when a duck is killed. No duck hunter thinks he is saving money by shooting a duck. He gets a charge out of hunting ducks, that’s all. Not me, but the similarity of the whole thing to human actions strikes me…sort of. Here are the stupid ducks, which I liken to savers in dollars. They fall for the whole thing. People with excess dollars are looking around for a place that is safe, to get a return on them, just like the ducks who hear and see other ducks which appear desirable to them. Fake money (decoys) which appear like real wealth, and the hunter’s call, which is also fake, but sounds like a real duck. Oh the attraction of T-Bills and savings accounts in dollars, all guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the US Government or some bank. Just like the hunter’s call to lure the ducks to land. Save in these dollars, which we use to buy things. Save in dollars, because they are American, and we have always had dollars. We have been using dollars since we were kids, so why not save in them? The stupid ducks, forever will be attracted to decoys and fake calls, never realizing that a shotgun is aimed at them from behind the blind. The foolish savers in dollars and will always answer to the fiat dollar call issued by the outfit that wants you to save and bite the dust in their fiat currency. The government needs you to fall for their call, and be fooled by their decoy dollars. They need you to invest in their dollars, so they can pay their bills! Savers in dollars are like the stupid ducks, believing the decoys are real, till they find out that they aren’t, but find out too late to save themselves.
The dollar is a decoy, masquerading as something of real value with which to save. Just because we have to use them to buy things, doesn’t make them a satisfactory saving device, any more than a duck decoy is a real duck. The fooled ducks get shot and eaten. The fooled dollar savers lose their surplus assets and net worth. Savers in antiques, original oils, valuable stamps, gold, silver, and collectible cars, go up in decoy dollars because they aren’t denominated in dollars. Savers in dollars lose their capital far faster than any interest they might earn. Savers in dollars are being decapitalized, in other words. The D.C. Gang has wonderful realistic calls and decoys to attract those with surplus assets. They are the hunter, who needs your dollars, because they can’t control their desire to endlessly spend and run up the national debt and deficit. They can’t ever pay it back, other than by printing it and devaluing it as they print. The stupid duck is eaten and the remains thrown away, because it fell for the siren call and beautiful decoy. Dollar savers are lured by the siren call of vociferous politicians or government decoys who always promise the moon but deliver debts, deficits, and printing press, debauched dollars. Dollars which lose 10% a year in purchasing power, but earn a couple percent interest.
Suit yourself in this new year, but saving in dollars, really is like stupid ducks falling for the wonderful attractions set out by the hunter to lure them to their death. Don’t be fooled by the lures of the D.C. Gang. Decapitalization is the unhappy result of falling for their siren songs and decoy dollars. Buy with them, but don’t save in them. In history, all civilizations have collapsed because of failed monies, and three times here already. Make it a New Year’s Resolution not to save surplus assets in dollars!
