Is always wrong. At least it usually is. Look at history in any time period. Go back to Biblical times and see how the majority was always wrong. I can’t think of a single instance in the whole Bible when the majority was right. In Jesus’ time, was the majority right? Was the majority right in Congress? Ever? The majority in Congress voted for the Patriot Act, Civil rights, going to wars, or giving the President permission to do so. The Majority gave us the likes of Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ, and Bush. The majority are always screwing up, making the wrong decisions, and doing the wrong thing. Which religion seems to be making the most headway in the world. Christianity or Islam?
The majority believe that Martin Luther King was a great man, forgetting that everywhere he went, preaching non-violence, violence broke out. He cheated on his wife, faked his doctorate thesis, and many of his speeches were conveniently plagerized from other speeches made by famous people. How many mindless officials voted to re-name a thoroughfare, “Martin Luther King Avenue?” How many are there? Hundreds? Every time I see one, I want to puke. Republicans worship Abe Lincoln, as do most others, and school children are taught that he was the “Great Emancipator.” Nuts. How could he ’emancipate’ anyone from states which had seceded? Dishonest Abe started a war which killed over 620,000 men, women, and children, needlessly, and divided the union, rather than saving it. Lincoln denied Habeas Corpus, had his opposition arrested many times, and violated the Constitution over and over again. America didn’t want to go to war in 1861, 1917, 1941, 1950, or any other time, but the majority took us there.
I saw a piece in Saturday’s paper which said that the Southern Baptists approve the Iraq war. Do the majority of Southern Baptists approve of it? I can’t imagine it. Or is it just the ruling body? The majority of people watch inane TV shows, full of mindless commercials, and listen to trash music. The majority of teens are so eager to be like their fellow idiots, that they’ll make fools of themselves in the attempt. When I was a teen, I couldn’t believe how stupid my peers were, which didn’t win me many friends. The current crop of movies are so violent and full of absurd ’special effects,’ that I can find few I want to see, but they seem to be grossing hundreds of millions.
I am in the minority of just about everything, I have just figured out while writing this. I don’t save in dollars, don’t drive a Chevy, don’t watch commercial TV, think 9/11 was an inside job, never go into a Wal Mart, listen to classical music all day, am not a fashion plate, don’t use poor grammar nor litter the highways, hate cats, read 30-40 books a year, love old British comedies, never been drunk, smoked, or had a job, so how non -conforming and oddball could anyone get? I actually try to be different, living in an 1887 house, driving four old Mercedes, and thrive on being different. Not that I am an example to follow of course. Few are as nutty as me.
The majority raise their children poorly, and wonder why they turn out that way. The majority save in dollars, and wonder why they are hurting so much today. The majority buy new cars, and wonder why they lose $10,000 in value when they drive their new one home. The majority don’t know Bach from Bay Rum, and if you called someone Tchaikovsky, they might think you insulted them. Have a look at Jay Leno’s “Jay Walking” episodes, if you want to see how stupid the majority is. The majority knows little of, nor cares about history, and that’s why we repeat it without fail.
The majority always put the person in office who promises them the most largess from the public treasury, thereby eventually making the currency worthless. History shows that nations have a useful life of about 200 years. Our time has long passed, and it becomes more obvious every day. How many people in America protect their assets with gold and silver, which are true, beautiful, historic money? A hundred thousand? Who knows, but I’ll bet it isn’t much more than that, at least at the present time. You tell people that the ’dollar is going down,’ and they look at you like you are insane or delirious. You tell people there is no reason to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan, and they think you are un-patriotic, rather than just the opposite.
The majority thinks it’s normal for wives to have to work, leaving their kids at day care. The majority never realizes that it never used to be that way, and that America has radically changed for the worse in the last 75 years. In spite of central air, microwaves, TV, satellites, cell phones, automatic transmissions, power steering and brakes, foam rubber, transistors, VCRs, and all the modern hocus-pocus, we have degenerated into a virtually illiterate, non-thinking, debt ridden, immoral, society. We, thanks to the majority, no longer make what we use, and are graduating endless classes of functional illiterates who many times can’t read a schedule for a passenger train. Yes, the majority also thinks public education is marvelous. We are a nation of welfare recipients, public housing occupants, and criminals, which constitute far to large a percentage of our population than is healthy. This is thanks to the majority of Congress who loves the hand out subsidies to the undeserving, with your and my dollars, and it has, and is…destroying us. Enough of this. Sorry to be so negative.
