The End?

I am as disgusted as anyone with the performance of Obama.  He appears to be worse than we expected him to be.  He runs over the Constitution with abandon, and seizes powers never allowed him by that sacred document, and his Democrats and 8 Republicans allow it.  At my tender age of 75, I have witnessed many atrocious things being committed by Presidents, Congressmen, CEO’s, cops, bureaucrats, and just about anyone that can come to mind.  While I was only seven when it broke out, World War Two captured my imagination then, and still does.  The utter waste of life, property, and wealth is still amazing.  The dollar lost 50% of its value in just four years.  The millions of lives snuffed out at the hands of the Nazis and Japs, boggles the mind.  The cost of that war in 2009 dollars, would be in the many trillions, I am certain.  Just imagine, Boeing turning out one B-17 per hour.  Think of the thousands of planes, bombs, tanks, guns, and ships manufactured on all sides.  Frightening.

I witnessed the Korean War and Vietnam, and was appalled at both.  Their respective costs in lives and property was disgusting.  I have witnessed the collapse of major corporations such as Enron, and the collapse of the World Trade Centers too.  I have witnessed the stock market collapses of 1985, 2000, and current.  I have watched the buck slide as prices of everything rose to the sky.  When I recite the old Pepsi jungle about 12 full ounces for a nickel, people half my age, think I have a vivid imagination.

I remember American cities without slums.  Bad neighborhoods, yes, but not slums.  I remember Los Angeles before freeways, with crystal clear air, when the Pacific Electric ran hundreds of fast trains every day on thousands of miles of track, without causing traffic jams and pollution.  I remember when America imported no oil from the Arabs, and had enough of its own.  Naturally, this was before freeways and the interstates.  I remember America with no interstates, and fast, deluxe passenger trains which ran from LA to Chicago in 39 hours with lush staterooms and gorgeous dining cars which served gourmet food.  I remember 2 lane US highways which went through all towns, big and small.  I toured America at age 18 in a 1941 Plymouth, and including gas, motels, and food, did it for about $5 a day.  I remember American cities with streetcar lines and no television.  I loved, and still do love radio.

Every time something bad happened, many thought the ’end’ was near.  I have dear friends who are just waiting for Armageddon or the rapture, and just know it isn’t far off, because of Obama, war jitters, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, loss of freedoms, or what have you.  I watched my old neighborhood in D.C. burned to the ground when King was shot, and watched Frank Rizzo knock black heads together and throw them into a paddy wagon in Philly.  I have seen all sorts of atrocities, but none of them is nearly as bad as was World War Two.  The atomic bomb made the Japs finally give up, and we were suddenly in the atomic age.  I was flying to an Explorer’s banquet in New York, when Three Mile Island almost blew up, and I wondered if New York was doomed to atomic radiation.

The point of all this is to say that we are in times not nearly as bad as World War Two, or for that matter Korea or Vietnam.  World War Two didn’t bring on the ’end,’ and believe me, what’s going on now, won’t either.  Will the dollar collapse?  I don’t think so, because all currencies are being printed.  Will the ’Amero’ take over?  A figment of someone’s dream, in my opinion.  You just can’t believe the crap that’s on the internet from the likes of Alex Jones and others.  I say to you readers this:  The world isn’t ending any time soon, the buck won’t collapse, and as bad as Obama is, we aren’t in the condition we were in with Jimmy Carter.  When Carter was President, we had 21% mortgages, 13% prime rate, the hostages were in Iran, and we were paying to get rid of the Panama Canal.  Things were pretty bad!  Then, Ronnie Reagan got elected, and even though he tripled the national debt, he healed America.

As far as the dollar collapsing, no, but hyper-inflation, yes.  See, most currencies now in existence are debt instruments.  None are backed by anything tangible, such as gold or silver.  All are created by printing presses, and to meet government debts, most governments ’borrow’ from their citizens or other nations, thereby creating debt.  The more borrowed, the more that needs to be borrowed, creating more and more debt. The more debt created, the more that has to be created to pay the interest and more foolish government, especially here.  This means that all currencies are going down in value, with the buck leading the trend.  It won’t collapse, but surely will continue its downward slope, with every single tangible thing going up in dollar prices, just like happened in WW II, when the buck lost 50% in just four years.

I think that Obama and his Democrat stooges have so boldly attempted to communize America, or tried to do so, that by the time of the 2010 elections, the Republicans could take back the Congress.  The more sensible Democrats are getting a bit leery of Obama.  If the Republicans got their act together, they could pull off a Reagan scenario in 2012.  It may not happen, but I hope so.    I know, the Mayan calendar says it will all be over in 2012.  We’ll see, but I think that we need to realize is that individually, we can change nothing.  We can write or call our Congressmen and Senators till we are blue in the face, and they could care less.  They only want to stay in office, regardless of your opinions, and they do it by squandering America’s wealth. The Glenn Becks can change things, and Newt can’t.  If you want to know how Newt killed the Reagan Revolution, ’Google’ Newt Gingrich. We can only protect ourselves from the obvious coming hyper-inflation, and in my opinion, get out of big cities.

Maybe it takes an old geezer like me, who has seen it all, over and over again, to tell you that the worst thing that has happened to America, happened 68 years ago, and that didn’t bring on the ’end,’ and what’s happened since, doesn’t hold a candle to that.  Keep calm, and protect yourself.  Whether gold and silver go up or down in the next week or even month, believe me, they are true wealth, true money, and true salvation.  A year or decade from now, you will not be sorry…believe me!
