545 People

This is part of a column by Charlie Reese, who has been a superb writer and columnist for close to 50 years.  He makes so much sense!  It’s the Democrats and Republicans both!

“Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.  Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and Republicans are against deficits, why do we have deficits?  If all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, why do we have inflation and high taxes?  If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.  If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.  If the armed forces are in Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s because they want them there, as well as dozens of other places in the world.

“One hundred Senators, 435 Congressmen, one President, nine Supreme Court justices, equates to 545 human beings out of 300 million population, who are directly, legally, morally, and individually, responsible for the problems that plague this nation.  Those 545, spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did was not their fault.  No lobbyist can force a vote, no matter how much the bribe is.  The millions of bureaucrats, whom the 545 hire, can be fired at their choice, no matter how much advice they may give, which is usually wrong and detrimental to our nation.  Lobbyists and bureaucrats have no legal authority, because it is the Constitution which gives power to the 545, and it gives no power to the lobbyists and bureaucrats, other than what the 545 give to them.

“It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million, can not replace 545 people who stand convicted…by present facts…of incompetence and irresponsibility.  There is not a single domestic problem, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.  When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists, is what they want to exist.  The Constitution gives the House of Representatives sole responsibility for originating and approving appropriations and taxes, not the Senate, nor President, nor Supreme Court.  If the House passes an outrageous, wasteful, absurd budget, and the President vetoes it, they can override it, and it is law.  Do not let them con you into the belief that there exists some disembodied, mystical force like, “The Economy,” “Inflation,” or “Politics,” that prevents them from doing what they took an oath to do.”  Pretty good, huh?

Employers fire employees who don’t perform.  Voters can oust politicians.  We are their bosses.  Why can’t voters oust all of them and clean up the mess?

You don’t think that illegals should be allowed to cross into the US?  Congress allows it.  You don’t think illegals should be able to walk into an emergency room and get free treatment?  Congress allows it.  You don’t think there should be any welfare?  Congress gives it away.  You think the CIA should be abolished as JFK tried to do?  Congress blesses the CIA and gives it tens of billions each year.  You think that there should be mining in America, but there isn’t because of the EPA?  Congress gives the EPA tens of billions each year and allows them to do as they see fit.

Not s single thing that a bureaucrat does, regulates, enforces, fines, and punishes, could be done without Congress’ approval and legislation.  Bureaucracy has run amok, and is lawless because of Congress.   Worthless paper money and inflation, is 100% the fault of Congress. The Federal Reserve was voted upon by Congress in 1913, but the Congress could abolish it tomorrow, if it chose to do so.   All the wars were begun by Congress, the Senate and Presidents, including the War Between the States, incorrectly called the Civil War, WW I, WW II, Korea, and Vietnam.   I didn’t start a war, tax anyone, debase the currency, hire meddling bureaucrats, establish federal agencies and cabinet posts, and neither did any of us or any of the 300 million Americans.

Why shouldn’t there be, “None of the above” on ballots, with a place for a write in?  Maybe if the Congress and President worked for zero salary, there wouldn’t be such a clamor for their jobs.  Lots of people work for nothing!  Bloomberg, Schwarzenegger, and millions of housewives and mothers.  Maybe if congressional staffs were cut to 5, with no free postage,  travel, health care, and lifetime salary, there would be fewer candidates.  Only rich people would run?  So what?  What’s wrong with being rich, unless you inherit it, like the late, not missed, Teddy Kennedy?  Most rich people earned their wealth by being smart.  Rich people usually worked hard, and won’t be giving the national wealth away to sloths and illegals.  Ross Perot would have done it for nothing, and would have transformed America, as would have Barry Goldwater.  I’ve got a couple of letters from Barry, which I cherish, and they weren’t signed by a machine.

Glenn Beck’s got it right, and I love his TV show at 5PM Eastern every day on Fox News (360 on Direct TV).  I wonder how many will be in D.C. on 9/12?  The Tea Party bus  was in my town, and in this town of 17,000, there were over 400 present to sing the National Anthem, God Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee, and sign petitions.  Great fun, and a great way to show the D.C. Gang that they’ve had it…..I hope.  The Wall Street Journal says that most of us are fed up with big government and Obama as well as the Democrats and wishy washy Republicans.  Obama’s popularity is 45% and sinking like the Arizona on Dec 7, 1941.  Keep writing those letters and phone calls going to D.C.  We can beat this and start again even in 2010!
