The Iron Lady

We need another Iron Lady now.  Who was she?  Margaret Thatcher, who was the British Prime Minister for eleven and one half glorious years, which term in office set records dating back over 150 years.  Maggie Thatcher brought Britain back from a 22% inflation rate, to 4% when she left office.  Margaret Thatcher’s achievements can never be underestimated, and in some people’s eyes, she is the greatest living Brit.

Between Reagan’s America, Mulrooney’s Canada, and Thatcher’s England, the cold war was won and the Soviets ceased to exist.  In 1979, England was a bankrupt nation, depending on the IMF for loans, as she groveled in unions, handouts, inflation, and huge bureaucracy.  One wag is quoted as saying that Maggie “Was the only woman politician with balls.”  Or, “She turned around an uncompetitive, union dominated economy, into a powerhouse.”

Beginning in 1946, the Labor Party, (originally called the Marxist party, and has never changed its beliefs), nationalized just about everything, raised taxes, and did every conceivable thing wrong, as the Democrats and liberal Republicans have tried to do here.  In 1978-79 it all came to a head, as all communistic, socialistic systems do, with numerous strikes, and ever more government harassments.  Then Thatcher was elected.  When Maggie took over, there were 3 million shareholders in England.  When she left, there were 11 1/2 million shareholders.  She privatized coal, iron, steel, gas, electricity, water supply, railways, trucking, airlines, and telecommunications.  She sold all the public housing to private individuals.  People were buying shares in the newly privatized companies, and Britain was getting itself back together.  She cut taxes and restricted government spending.

A quote attributed to Thatcher is, “The trouble with socialism, is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”

The question is:  Is America going to take out the trash in November?  Maggie Thatcher did.  Is it possible that if the Tea Party Republicans take charge, and Obama is replaced by my favorite combination of Texas Governor Rick Perry and Sarah Palin, could a combination like that make America whole again?  It’s not too late to send a few bucks to defeat Harry Reid.

I know this is brief, but Margaret Thatcher’s example stands out like a sore thumb today, as the November elections near.  The Tea Party Republican candidates are urging, and promising to vote for, all of The Iron Lady’s ideas and actions.  Let’s bring America back to sanity.  Go Tea Party!

P.S. Barbara Boxer stands for everything I despise about the liberal Democrats.  When a wealthy family hires a servant from an employment firm, requests that the servant be legal, and when that person presents a Social Security number and proof of being legal, and works for nine years, at $23 per hour, and Boxer outs her, makes her illegality prominent, and accuses the employer of shady dealings, all total lies, let’s hope that Governor Moonbeam is handily defeated..
