The Bribery of the Welfare State

You want our votes mister Senator?  Without our votes, you can’t possibly be elected, you know.  Want us to vote for you, Mr. House member?  Without our votes, you can’t possibly win, and we all know how much you love being in D.C. with that fancy office, free medical care, postage, secretarial and research help, not to mention transportation and free parking.  The adulation of your constituency, and self esteem of being a part of that 535 privileged elect, is unsurpassed, and we all know it.  You really don’t want to be defeated, and go home in shame, do you?  It’s all so simple Senator or Representative.  Just keep on inserting those earmarks, which reward us for our votes.  Keep on voting for tax increases for the super rich, and handouts, food stamps, rent subsidies, and benefits for us.  We’ll keep you there.  The rich are a minority, and their votes don’t amount to much, compared to ours.

We, the welfare state, eat and live at the public trough.  We need those food stamps, rent subsidies, and getting paid when we have lots of babies, get laid off from our jobs, or get tired and quit.  We think we deserve everything we get, and naturally, we always want more.  After all, we’re poor and un-educated.  We may even be lazy, but that’s none of your business, and especially when we can still live in public or ’section eight’ housing.  It doesn’t cost you anything to keep those checks and food stamps coming.  Just your votes, which gets our permission for your continued living that posh life.

Buying votes is nothing new.  It’s been going on for centuries.  As a matter of fact, most of the previous fallen nations, fell because of vote buying.  The bribery of the welfare state, is thousands of years old.  Greece and Rome went the way of all flesh, when they spent more than they took in, and went bankrupt.  I’ve been to the Coliseum, where circuses were held to keep the welfare state amused and voting.  The lure of being elected to, and staying in public office, is undeniable, and at the same time, it’s sure death to the nation you represent.  The smart and wealthy, are always in the minority, with the poor, always being the majority.  Does the factory owner out-number his employees?  Does the welfare class, and now the underclass, outnumber the intelligent voters, who want no welfare and government handouts?  Naturally.

Does the intelligent, productive, well off class, outnumber those who would feed off of their taxes?  Never.  It is so obvious, that when requirements for voting were virtually abolished, the ultimate end of our nation would have to be bankruptcy, riots, and destruction.  (That’s why I urge you to get out of big cities).  Why do you think that a small fee for voting was established?  When it cost a dollar or so to vote, not only was the election paid for, but that fee sifted out those who didn’t care enough to vote, and they were probably the ones who shouldn’t have voted anyway.  If stringent reading and writing requirements were required of voters, probably the trash, ignorant, and welfare class, wouldn’t or couldn’t vote.  What’s wrong with that?  Liberal do-gooders never consider that, because they’re too busy signing up the illiterate, slum dwellers.

(In 1937, in Breedlove vs. Suttles, the Supreme Court ruled that the poll tax was Constitutional, but in 1962,  with the passing of the 24th Amendment, the poll tax was obliterated…thanks to the Warren Court).

When the voting class is degraded, the welfare state increases, and that always results in national bankruptcy.  As my son said in his column a week ago, we need Representatives and Senators who will vote so that their re-election is not sure.  We need them to vote away all subsidies, earmarks, and handouts.  There’s nothing like fiscal sanity to preserve the union!

Look at the Greek riots.  Government got in so deep, that it was ether cut handouts, or go bust.  In Britain, the kids are rioting because they have to pay more for college.  The Brits, foolishly, used to give not only free college, but food and rent also.  The riots continue.  The Italians are in deep trouble too, as is Portugal. Spain is on the verge of going bust also, and Italy is in trouble as is even Iceland.  The riots will continue in many places around the world.  Is Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, and the UK worse than America?  Hardly.  Handouts and welfare are very habit forming, and if they are cut, the riots will begin, and eventually here in America.

There’s no way to avoid it.  It’ll either be hyper-inflation, absolute bankruptcy, or both.  The debt is unpayable, other than with unbacked paper money.  If there ever was a truth in the world, it is that the world’s debts are unpayable.  No currency is backed by anything but the thin air out of which they are created, and there is no shortage of trees with which to make the paper.  All governments mentioned above, and most others, are in deep debt, thanks to politicians.  All have debts impossible to pay, other than with government created scrip.  Gold and silver are your life preservers.  Do not let corrections worry you.  They’re merely buying opportunities.  When you hear big brother say there is no inflation, remember that their figures do not include food and fuel, which is absurd.  Their GDP figures don’t include the fact that the GDP includes government spending!  No wonder Congress has a 13% approval rating.

P.S. True conservative Reps and Senators would vote NO on the Bush tax prolonging.  The crap that goes with it is disgusting.  Wait till January and do it correctly, without the rest of what the Democrats added on to it.
