A Painless Fix?

The government is out of control, with debts, interest, and bureaucracy, killing us.  All true.  How can we, as a nation, survive?  It won’t be easy, that’s for sure, and for America to be saved, many will have to suffer.  I think I have devised a plan which will save America with the least pain.  Try it on for size, and see if it doesn’t make sense.  (Naturally, it will never happen, because it’s far too logical and economically sensible, but that’s what my columns are).

First of all, bring all the troops home.  Not next year, but get out of Afghanistan and every other place around the world now.  We’ve been in Afghanistan over ten years, and have accomplished nothing, other than killing thousands of innocents and American servicemen, plus wasting probably a trillion dollars.  We should be absolutely neutral.  Who cares if the African president who lost, wouldn’t leave office and now refuses to sign over power?  Not me.  Who cares if Libya’s 42 year dictatorship fails?  Not me.  Who cares if Iceland’s bankers are held responsible for their stupidity?  Not me.  Who cares if Portugal, Greece, Spain, Ireland, and who else knows, go down the drain because of their stupidity?  Not me, because I am very concerned about our own stupidity right here in America.  Absolute neutrality would save trillions of dollars.

Second, get the UN out of America, and resign our memberships in it and the World Bank and IMF,  and stop all foreign aid.  Period.

Third, refund all money taken from payrolls for Social Security, Medicare, etc for everyone under the age of 45, and no one under the age of 45 will ever be covered under those Ponzi schemes.  They want to save for their old age?  Let them do it, and it’s their responsibility.  They want to have health insurance?  Do it!  This means that all over the age of 45, can have the Social Security and Medicare if they wish, but no new entrants, and those over 45 can get refunds also, realizing that they will never be able to get on, if they decide to quit.  Medicare and Social Security will be gone in 17 years.

Fourth, abolish the Federal Reserve, that privately owned banking cartel, which has destroyed America over the last close to a hundred years.  The Treasury Department can do as the Constitution says, and that is issue the money.

Fifth, instantly abolish the Depts. of Education, Transportation, FHA,  and a few other cabinet positions, and cease all federal subsidies and grants to and for anything.  Instantly eliminate all ’czars’ and their staffs.

Sixth, an absolute freeze on all federal hiring for any purpose or reason, and an absolute freeze on all federal salaries and benefits till the private sector can catch up.  Throw away all federal employment applications, and fire those who hire.  No more federal employees under any circumstances.  As employees retire, quit, or are fired, they will not be replaced under any conditions.  As employees are needed for any remaining bureaucracies, they can be transferred from those which have been abolished or depleted due to retirements, firings, or resignations.  There are literally hundreds of federal  bureaucracies, offices, and agencies, which are worthless and duplicitous.  Lots of bureaucrats to fill the positions of retirees.  The federal government will shrink as fast as its employees are retired, fired, or quit.

Seventh, eliminate the IRS, other than to collect a flat 10% tax on everyone’s income with no deductions of any kind for a ten year period, and then a total income tax elimination.  The remaining small government expenses would be paid with tariffs, as was the original plan.

Eighth, sell most government properties, national parks, and interstate highways, to the highest bidders, or states in which they reside.  If the states want to give welfare, charge for use of their highways, or do anything which competes with other states, let them have a go at it.  Competition between the states would be very healthy.  The Tenth Amendment will rule supreme.

Ninth, be sure the Constitution was rigidly enforced in what would remain in Washington D.C.  This means that no law would be passed that subsidized or regulated anything!  What a relief!

If all the above were done, the budget would be instantly balanced, and the debt beginning to be paid.  We must care for our troops mistakenly sent overseas and injured, and we must continue with Social Security, etc for those over 45, who choose to remain in it, but in 17 years, that will be a thing of the past.  As the dollar gains strength, obviously the euro, pound, yen, peso, and all the other currencies in the world would weaken, because, we would have reverted to freedom, while the rest of the world was still bogged down in huge governments, bureaucracies, dictatorships, wars, and huge taxes… as was our case in 1776, which was when this noble experiment was begun, which has been so contaminated for the last 200 years, probably beginning with dishonest Abe’s War of Northern Aggression.

Today is the 150th anniversary of the federal resupplying of Ft. Sumter.  South Carolina had warned not to resupply, but no heed was taken, and that tragic War was begun.  Last night on Turner Classic Movies, a restored print, with full symphonic accompaniment, of D.W. Griffith’s 1915 epic, “The Birth Of A Nation” was shown, and it was great.  I showed it in one of my theatres for a week, with full pipe organ accompaniment in 1962, and that brought out all the liberals and nut cases.  What a riot that was.  Everyone should rent ot, buy it, or see it.
