Picture the scene: Salesman knocks on door. Housewife answers and he tells her about the wonderful new Electrolux model 30, (50 years ago!) which he holds in his hand. Housewife says, “No,” and salesman sticks his foot in the door so she can’t close it. He then worms his way into the house trying to sell. (There’s the old story of the Electrolux salesman who got into a home in the sticks, spread dirt all around, and asked where the outlet was, only to be told ’We ain’t got no ’lectricity.’ I tried selling Electrolux at age 18 once, and couldn’t do it.)
Getting us back to today. Once the foot is in the door, the door is impossible to shut, unless the householder and salesman agree to it. The exact same thing holds true with handouts, and all programs which dole out government funds. Once a program is in place, the foot is in the door, and it can never be eliminated, unless it is by agreement with both recipients and those who hand it out. Thus, we have a $150 trillion commitment of future payouts for Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and even prescription drugs. Would the recipients of them gladly say, “Sure, we know you have a problem, just cut us out and balance your budget.” Fat chance!
What to do? How to balance the budget? The previous column was part of the answer, and especially the bit about denying voting rights to those on the dole…except Social Security. As far as the rest are concerned, let me repeat what I have been saying for decades now, and in columns and two of the five books I have written.
Allow no new entrants into Social Security, Medicare, etc, first of all. This is the same as giving them a close to 20% raise, which they will not object to, and even if a small number did, the programs by law, will allow no new entrants nor any deductions for them any longer. How to get rid of the rest? Simple also. From age 45, no more payments and no coverage at age 62, or whatever it will be then. The goofy RINO Republicans said that no changes for those under 55, but then Obamacare comes on, so no one buys that. My idea, is that those under 45, will no longer be covered 17 or whatever years in the future, but they will also get a close to 20% increase in their salaries, because there will be no more deductions taken from them for Social Security and Medicare. That gives them plenty of time to plan for their futures, and if they took the 20% and invested it in gold and silver, their futures would be brilliant. If you’re not going to get it in future years, you shouldn’t have to pay for it now.
How will the costs be paid, if no new entrants are allowed, and those over 45 will no longer have to pay? Simple once again. Just print the money, which is exactly what they’re doing now, but at least in maybe 17 years, there will be no more obligations, and the whole thing will go to the garbage pile, which has been created by dumb-ass politicians over the past 78 years. Will the morons do it? Of course not, even though it makes the utmost sense. Ponzi schemes never work, but always end in bankruptcy, which is what the US is suffering from currently.
It has been said many times that put a uniform on someone, and automatically, they get swell-headed and throw their weight around. Far too many police are that way, and give someone a seat in the House or Senate, and their heads swoon with the adulation and power. No wonder they’re such idiots! Any one with a bit of sense could make a lot more money in business and not have to worry about getting re-elected. The good Reps and Senators who do not have swelled heads, which are mainly the Tea Party candidates, don’t care if they don’t get re-elected, as long as they can provide good votes and influence while they’re there. They usually are doctors or professionals, like the Pauls, who just want to stop government growth. (Rand Paul would make a great President, but he’s too new I am afraid).
If the bloated bureaucracy, bureaucrats, and their wasteful programs do get axed, and we all hope they do, my advice is very pertinent. GET OUT OF THE BIG CITIES! Riots in Chicago the other day, by blacks, of course, are routine in big cities, and if the freebies get cut, the riots will mean bloodshed and lack of utilities and law enforcement, because of the volume of violence, and vandalism everywhere. Remember the riots in L.A. when a jury found cops innocent in the Rodney King episode? Fires everywhere and violence everywhere. Racist? No. I’m an observer, that’s all. I live in a town of 17,000 with no severe weather, minorities, plenty of water, and 300 days of sunshine a year. Lots of towns can brag of having the same or similar conditions and attributes, I am certain. Don’t just think about it. Do it. If you have to stay because of employment, fine, but if you’re retired, get out and start a new, trouble free life in a small town with good weather, and low crime. That move may be just as important as saving in gold and silver in future years.
The economy continues to decline. Another week with over 400,000 new unemployed, and last month, supposedly there were but 59,000 jobs created, with 25,000 of them by McDonalds. China has leased a major Greek port and turned their Greek teamsters there into virtual slaves. China controls both entrances to the Panama Canal, and is now building a huge aircraft carrier. China is buying ports, raw materials, control, and influence around the world. She got her nefarious start, because of the idiocy, in the main, of the Walmart heirs, who were delighted to buy cheap stuff from China, and it was followed by the big box stores, and wholesalers. That’s one reason why I refuse to go to a Walmart. I also refuse to buy anything made in China, at least knowingly. I’m a life, endowment, member of the NRA, and they sent me a beautiful American Eagle on top of a beautiful American Flag. Guess what? It was made in China. The NRA is getting a letter and probably a lack of future contributions from me unless they change their sources. Why don’t we all try our level best to stop buying things made in China? We’re digging our own graves, when we do.
