Corruption or stupidity? I say it’s combination of both. Here are some examples of both, but ALL originate in that capital of absurdity, Washington D.C.
At the end of 2010, 96, mostly Democrat, House members paid their office staff $6.7 million in bonuses, all paid by taxpayers, of course.
Obama Care is so wonderful, that Obama has given exemptions to over 1,000 organizations.
The 70,000 page IRS code has so many loopholes, that many corporations paid upper echelon executives many millions in bonuses and they legally paid no taxes on them. The tax code in 1913, was only 1% of high income earners, and the code contained 400 pages. This year, taxpayers will spend 7.6 billion hours trying to figure it all out and doing their taxes.
In February alone, the federal government ran a deficit of $223 Billion, an all time high.
President Obama in his first two years as President, played 60 rounds of golf, and took ten separate vacations, which took over 90 days. Really milking it dry, isn’t he?
Stimulus
The following are a few of the things Obama’s stimulus has paid for with taxpayer money:
Florida Atlantic University used $15,551 to pay two researchers to study how alcohol affects a mouse’s motor functions.
Syracuse professor of psychology Michael Carey received $219,000 for a study which examines the sex patterns of women in college.
The National Institutes of Health spent $442,000 to study the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam.
$1.15 million was spent for the installation of a new guard rail around the non-existent Optima Lake in Oklahoma.
The State University of New York got $389,000 to study 100 Buffalo residents to record how much malt liquor and pot they use each day.
A dinner cruise company in Chicago, received close to $1,000,000 to combat terrorism.
A Duke University assistant professor got $498,000 to study Facebook.
Monkton Vermont received $150,000 to construct a salamander crossing.
Almost $1,000,000,000 has been used to write poetry for several zoos.
$448 million to build a Homeland Security office, and $248 million to furnish it.
$6 billion to turn federal buildings into ’green’ buildings.
$1.2 billion for “youth activities.”
$100 million for ’reducing the hazard of lead based paint.’
$600 million for hybrid vehicles for federal employees, plus $200 million for hybrid vehicles on military bases.
And on and on it goes, while Social Security recipients have their rates frozen for two years, and what’s far worse, when increases are computed, the Cost of Living figure does not include food or fuel. A famous author’s novel ended with a nuclear rocket destroying the Capitol building and all in it. I would hate for that to happen. The building is far too beautiful. Isn’t there some way to separate the occupants from the building? Have a great Labor Day Weekend, and of course, protect yourself with gold and silver.
P.S. Wonder why there’s a huge debt? On October 10, 2001, Donald Rumsfeld said there was $2.2 trillion missing or unaccounted for in the Pentagon funds. Wonder why no one is hiring? There have been over 80,000 pages of new regulations written so far this year. A business would be a fool to hire anyone, with the red tape emitting from that bastion of red tape, Washington D.C.
