Off A Cliff?

The Washington Times, which is a good paper, had a story which said that no matter what is done economically, disaster is certain to follow.  Damned if you do and damned if you don’t was the theme.  Off a financial and fiscal cliff we will go, no matter what is done about the budget.  Cut spending?  That will put us into a recession, sez the Times.  Eliminate Bush tax cuts?  That’ll balloon the deficit by half trillion bucks.  Oh dear!  What will they do?

Here’s what they’ll do I am sure, at least unless the Tea Party led House has their way, and my way would be even more severe.  Who cares if Washington D.C. has an unemployment rate of 40%?  I’d consider that a blessing!  GET RID of entire bureaucracies, such as Education and others I have mentioned in previous columns.  Cut all government salaries by 20% NOW,  They’re being way overpaid anyway, as all surveys prove.  What would the government employees do if their salaries were cut by 20%?  Riot?  Burn their offices?  Go on strike?  All of them would be just fine!  Go on strike, and we won’t replace you.  Riot?  Go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass Go and do not collect $200.  Burn their offices?  That won’t work, because they’re all sprinkled.  Quit?  Great.  More savings!

Leave the Bush tax cuts in place, but change the laws so that everyone pays some income tax.  Close to 50% pay not a dime, and they should.  The EPA. has been responsible for more job losses than any other bureaucracy.  Get rid of it and all its employees.  The environment won’t decay, any more that it was decaying before the EPA went into effect in 1970.  With jobs, taxes are collected, and with no EPA, lots of jobs would be created.  How about never another cent to be spent, unless it is with Congressional approval?  95% of spending is by bureaucrats and others with no Congressional approval, as is required by the Constitution.

Earmarks?  Never another one allowed, and never another “Executive Order,” which is unconstitutional, no matter how far back they may go.  And let’s audit the Federal Reserve before we get rid of it.  An audit would make getting rid of it the obvious thing to do.  Think about it.  The Fed creates dollars out of thin air and sells them to the Treasury Dept, and we pay them interest for what they sell to us after creating it out of thin air!  That’s part of what is known as the federal debt.

Student loans?  Absolutely no more government sponsored ones.  College tuitions are going to be the next bust.  Tuitions have gone up four times as fast as inflation, and there is no good reason for it, other than they can get it, and the poor students are stuck with huge loans almost impossible to pay.  Small Business Administration?  They’re responsible for hundreds of bankrupt businesses and I know of one restaurant in my town that would still be there, other than for the SBA refusing to lower their 9.5% interest rate.  Get rid of that one too.  No government loans to anyone at any time.

Cut military spending?  Sure!  Why not?  Bring the troops home now, not in two years.  After WWII, all the troops came home, and everyone thought they wouldn’t be able to find a job, there were so many of them.  They found jobs, and America, without a war, prospered incredibly.  Cut taxes, make everyone pay some, get rid of many bureaucracies, cut all government payroll by 20%, and I can go on and on.  We’re at the edge of a fiscal cliff?  Probably.

Only because of the D.C. politicos, who just have to keep spending like heroin addicts, who can’t stop.  Surely the November elections will change the makeup of D.C. radically!  Has there EVER been a nation in history, from Greece, Rome, and on down, which has not failed because of dumb wars, expansionism, overspending and fiscal irresponsibility?  NOT A SINGLE ONE.  Who caused all these failures, wars, and stupidity?  POLITICIANS, NOT THE CITIZENS.  Let’s clean house in November
