Think about it, and you’ll see that most, if not all major cities are run by Democrats and always vote Democratic. In my state of Colorado, it’s the same thing. The entire state is strongly Republican, but the front range cities like Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, always seem to vote for the Democrats, and are run by Democrats. Why? Detroit, 50 years ago was beautiful, clean, and prosperous. It has been controlled by stupid, crooked Democrats for 50 years, and today it is a rubble.
Democrats win elections by appealing to, and rewarding, the underclass, welfare recipients, recipients of government handouts, union members, and bureaucrats. Where are the most government employees and bureaucrats? Where are the union members? Where are the slums and welfare recipients? Who do they vote for? Those politicians who promise them the most from the public treasury, and actually deliver. Do Republicans do that? No.
Take any line of work. Police? Unionized, of course in big cities, but practically never in small towns. Bureaucrats and government employees? Always they have their unions, and hopefully the chain will be broken today when Scott Walker wins in Wisconsin. Why are the big cities so expensive to visit? Because the entire work force is probably unionized and unions support, give to, and vote, Democratic.
New York is probably the most expensive place in America to visit. In New York City, EVERY OCCUPATION seems to be unionized. Cab drivers, cops, doormen, janitors, street sweepers, subway motormen and bus drivers. All unionized. Stage hands, actors and musicians? All unionized. Brick layers, carpenters, and dry wall installers? All unionized. Sign makers and painters? Garbage truck drivers? Electricians, and plumbers? Waitresses and waiters? Chefs, cooks and bottle washers? All union members, and all make outlandish wages.
It’s a chain reaction. When wages keep going up and up because of unions and lazy, incompetent bosses who give in to them, the cost of living and taxes go up so much, that wages have to go up to meet them, and the chain reaction keeps on going, till you get to Detroit, and all cities which are on their way to becoming Detroits. The unions keep getting more wages, costs of living keep going up, and bureaucrats are in hog heaven, making every union worker toe the line as far as endless regulations and rules are concerned. “That chair has to be so many inches off the floor.” “That type of wire is not acceptable in our city, even though it is in other places.” “That pipe has to be a different schedule.” New York is experiencing an avalanche of worthwhile people and businesses who are leaving, because they can’t take it any longer.
In big cities, there are inspectors for everything, and all are members of unions. They help out each other by demanding strict adherence to silly rules, and codes, promulgated by unionized bureaucrats, all scratching each others back. All getting paid exorbitant wages, and all helping each other to prolong the process and increase the cost. How does this make a city Detroit? Simple, and it is already happening.
The idea is to transfer wealth from Republican those who have, to Democrats who have less. The Republican businessman, who is trying to run a restaurant, finds he has to pay union wages to Democrat dishwashers, waiters, cooks, and food providers. He then sees that he has to pay high advertising rates to TV or newspapers, high rents, because property taxes are so high, and the list is endless. Can he raise prices to meet the expenses? Yes, for a while, and then he gives up, shuts down, and leaves the city, retires, or does something outside the union belt. He sells his house and business, and decides he doesn’t need the aggravation and taxes any longer. Goodbye big city, and goodbye Republicans. The result is that the money has been transferred from the Republican productive sector, which is the businessman and entrepreneur, to the Democrat union bosses, and bureaucrats, who are non-productive leaches. The expensive homes and businesses are sold or are for sale, and there are empty stores, and lower tax bases.
Who, eventually is left in the big cities? Democrat welfare and food stamp recipients, public housing residents, and politicians. I left the big city of Philadelphia in 1971. I sold my chain of ice cream parlors, and the buyer destroyed them. I saw West Philly go from working class neighborhood, to Democrat no-mans land. The stores, restaurants, theatres, super markets, and homes are gone, or destroyed. Abandoned cars and houses litter neighborhoods, and crime is everywhere as is graffiti, and trash. Just like Detroit, only not quite as bad…yet.
The process inevitably continues. The Republican businesses, thinkers and workers leave, and the Democrat welfare and food stamp recipients stay. Union wage increases come automatically, and factories close, and governments grow. What will gradually happen to the big cities? Chaos. How long will it take for Democrat Philly to become Detroit? Democrat St. Louis? Democrat Los Angeles’ once great neighborhoods of Lynwood, Southgate, Compton, etc. have become “South Central,” where one wouldn’t dare to drive or walk at night, or even in daytime. The area of Philly, once called, “The Great Northeast,” is no longer very great. The Washington D.C. home of Obama and huge government, where no one can get fired, and raises will go on forever, has no such problem. Neighborhoods which weren’t too good when I was growing up, have flourished because of the demand for housing. Good old Uncle Sam!
Until someone can stop government’s continuing expansion, the cities will get worse, the dollar value will continue to shrink, and taxes and prices will go up. All major cities will gradually continue to go the way of Detroit. The entire State of California, seems to be on a Detroit like path. Would Mitt stop government or shrink it? He’d have to be a lot better than Obama, but Newt called him “The Massachusetts Moderate,” which is pretty accurate I suppose. I sent him $100 anyway, but I send to The Tea Party, because if we can keep the House and take the Senate, there might be a glimmer of hope. Just a glimmer, but in the mean time, get out of dollars, into gold and silver, and please try to get out of big cities. Both of these actions are for your own benefit.
