I have been hearing of the world’s end, Armageddon, currency collapses, earth warming, commie takeovers, gold going to $5,000, or $50,000, (take your pick), and all sots of nonsense, ever since I was a kid in knee pants. I was a member of the John Birch Society twice. That give you an idea of where I have heard all this stuff? I’m sick of it!
Sinclair and Willy charge a bundle to even enter their web sites, to partake of their doom predictions. Want to go to hear Jim Sinclair speak?. $50 per person, in advance, payable by credit card. It costs fortune to hear in gross exaggeration, what I say here for free. I don’t subscribe to anything, or any web site. Nuts to them all. We make a few bucks brokering precious metals, and do OK, with not a penny spent for advertising, rent, or employees. We work out of our individual homes. Melissa, my daughter, in upper New York State, my son David in Wisconsin, and my daughter in law Morgen in Texas. (Don’t mess with Texas!), and me in Colorado. I write a column a week, like this one, and they are not copyrighted, and are copied by lots of other web sites. Thanks for the publicity! I am certain I have made mistakes in the past, but no one had to pay for my opinions, as opposed to Jim Sinclair, who has miss-prophesied many times. I don’t give speeches and charge $50 admission, and for that matter, no one has ever asked me to give a speech.
Is the dollar going to collapse? I say no. We’re still the world’s reserve currency, and even though this is threatened by the communist Chinese yaun, I think the buck will last for a long time. Our economy may be bad, but it’s not nearly as bad as is the Japanese or the European economies. Half of the euro nations are absolutely bankrupt and insolvent. The Japanese are printing yen as fast as multiple presses can turn them out, and they have more problems, with radioactive, destroyed power plants, sinking airports, and deficits which boggle the mind. The buck, in my opinion, (no charge) will keep doing what it has been doing since Roosevelt, and that is go down in value. World War Two halved the dollar in just three and a half years, and it has never been that bad since. Stop listening to the calamity howlers, and be logical. Other places in the world have virtually no votes which count, are run by dictators, Muslim extremists, or commies like in China. The commie Chinese have loosened up a bit since they discovered a bit of freedom and profit. The Brits have given their empire away, and are taxed so much, with that expensive royalty, that the pound will never be a threat. It’s all so utterly simple. Paper money is printed with wild abandon around the world, and all tangible things will go up in those currency prices. Sooner or later? It doesn’t matter when, just get out of dollars, and big cities, if you wish to save yourself. That’s my cheap, no charge, opinion.
Store stuff overseas? See my last column. The end part. Store gold and silver at some sort of private vault? Not me. See previous column.
IRA seizure? Possibly, but since it is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, I would imagine that it would take a Supreme Court decision to allow it. No, I wouldn’t have an IRA, but lots of people do, and have physical gold and silver stored in them. Take it out? Up to them, but the taxes would probably be high. Not my decision to make
I’ve been doing metals brokering since November of 1977, and I have been watching and reading all the dire predictions ever since I started, and as far as I can see, not a damn one of them has come true, including Sinclair’s prediction a few years ago, of the end arriving, as I remember, at a certain part of August of that year. I think I remember that incident correctly, and it not, I apologize, but at the time, I thought to myself, “That’s absurd.”
Repeat of the Roosevelt confiscation? That would be interesting, since it never happened. Roosevelt, shortly after he took office in 1933, issued an executive order telling everyone to turn in their gold and get paper money for it. Shortly thereafter, he raised the price of gold from $20.67 to $35, thereby stealing billions from those who turned theirs in, but millions never turned theirs in, and that order was never enforced. If the order was obeyed by everyone, how come the coin shops and numismatic crooks still have them to sell? How would they know who has gold, even if they tried to get it? Same with guns and drugs. Who knows who has them? Those who registered theirs, could easily say that they had them stolen, sold them on e-bay, or at a yard sale. If they’re chickens, they’d turn them in, as any fool would. Up to the gun owners, not me. Prostitution is the oldest profession, and no government has ever been able to stop it. The war on drugs, is one great failure and fiasco, just as would be an effort to take your gold and silver.
The predictions of gold and silver going heavenward, are fallacies also.. No one has a crystal ball. Mine broke last week when it fell off my desk, so that’s that with me. All the prophets and chartists couldn’t have, and didn’t, predict gold and silver falling out of bed a few weeks ago. Gold and silver are real, honest to goodness, tangible, historic MONEY, and require no government support or permission to be valuable. Nor does their value depend on expensive speeches, advice, or web sites. They are the one money that requires no government pricing, even though futures traders and governments hate gold and silver, and do everything they can to manipulate them. Ten years ago, Gold was $375 an ounce, so all the manipulators and futures traders couldn’t, and didn’t, keep it from more than tripling in price, even after the drop of $800. What will the prices be a year from now? I have no idea, but I’ll bet my wad it’ll be a lot higher. No, not $5,000 an ounce, but probably $1800.
Russian and Chinese missiles hitting us? Iran getting wiped out by Israel? The calamity howlers love to predict World War Three, but I doubt that this will ever happen. If it did, we’d all be dead, and I don’t think any dictator or ruler is dumb enough to trigger that. I can only hope that America doesn’t get involved in Syria, but no one knows how dumb the fools in D.C. will be.
And finally, from a young college student, who obviously has not been brainwashed by his or her professors, comes this, added to and edited a bit by me:
Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et al, we want a divorce, and terms are as follows:
(1) We don’t like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them.
(2) You are welcome to the liberal judges and ACLU. Since you hate guns, we’ll take our firearms, sheriffs, and the NRA.
(3) We’ll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and coal mines. You can go with wind, solar, and bio diesel.
(4) You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell, but you have to find a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them. You can also please take Ted Turner, Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, Hillary Clinton, and Barbara Streisand
(5) We’ll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Walmart and Wall Street. You can keep welfare recipients, food stamps, public housing, homeless, hippies, druggies, press one for English, and illegal aliens.
(6) We’ll keep soccer moms, greedy CEO’s, rednecks, conservatism, Bill O’Reilly, Judeo-Christian values, and Bibles.
(7) You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness, United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Federal Reserve, Democrats, Obamacare, and a hundred other things, too numerous to mention.
(8) We’ll keep pickups, luxury cars, individual responsibility, Sarah Palin, gold, silver, and most Republicans, but not all.
(9) You’ll be happy with “Imagine,” “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing,” “Kum Ba Ya,” or, “We Are the World.” We’ll keep “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America,” “America the Beautiful,” and “The National Anthem.”
(10) We’ll practice trickle-down economics, and you can continue to give trickle-up poverty your best shot.
(11) Since it so often offends you, we’ll keep our history, our name, and our flag. You can keep most college professors, black studies, CNN, and Detroit.
Sounds fair to me!
