By Dictionary definition, pollution is to make corrupt or impure. An old American proverb reads: “If you want to clear the stream, get the hog out of the spring.” What can a column by me, have to do with pollution? Lots! Maybe, “Get the government out of the spring, and that might clear the stream of America?” Pollution can foul the air, water, or thousands of things, and without exception, when something is polluted, it is either ruined or virtually worthless. In some cases, pollution can be caused by the introduction of a foreign species, as is the case in the Atlantic Ocean, when some silly householder dumped a couple of Lion Fish into the ocean. They have no natural enemies, and lay 20,000 eggs in a few days. They kill off native fish, and are a great problem. There is lots of pollution in the world. Out where I live, the pine bark beetle has killed tens of thousands of pine trees, thanks in part to BLM and National Forest not thinning the trees, and not caring for them. Temperatures of 40 below zero kills the beetles, but that temperature hasn’t been reached in several years, so they thrive.
America has been terribly polluted by politicians over the last 80 years, and especially in the last 48 years. 48 years ago, the entire health care system became polluted with Medicare and Medicaid, which were the ultimate in freebies. Gone were self respect, saving, and budgeting for medical needs. In place, were and still are, billions of pages of records, forms, billings, and required nonsense, to get paid for services rendered. Doctors and hospitals have lots of extra employees needed to fill out the forms. What was a $3 office visit before Medicare, is now $100, or thereabouts. In order not to be sued for mal-practice, docs perform endless tests, many of which are pointless, and which run the costs of the system upwards to the sky. It has been going on for so long, that the pollution is forgotten, and people consider it as manna from heaven, or a deserved, government provided ’service.’ Will Medicare and Medicaid ever be removed, and the medical profession be returned to the free market? As Al Smith ( He ran against FDR in 1928 and lost), said in 1936, “Nobody shoots at Santa Claus.” The medical pollution will go on forever, and with Obamacare, the profession is going to lose thousands of docs who will retire, or refuse to work for peanuts, just when ever more docs will be needed. In a few years, under Obamacare, you might be very lucky to even find a doc to treat you.
Speaking of Obamacare, and several columns could be written about it, the law has about 2100 pages. Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “We need to pass it so we can see what’s in it,” and it passed without a single Republican vote. Since its passing, and even before it takes full effect, the medicrats (medical bureaucrats) have written 11,588,500 words of regulations and rules, and every day they write more and more. The original law had 381,517 words. The system is an utter failure, and of course it is just the forerunner of a British system of total, universal, poor care, which will cost taxpayers even more, and drive the specialists to Mexico, where those really sick, will have to go to get well. Just imagine a panel of non-doctors, ruling on whether you or I are going to get care. It will depend on your age, and condition. 90 years old, and needing care? ’Sorry, let him die.’ 85 years old and has had a heart attack in the past? ’Forget it. Let him die.’ Need a transplant? ’Sorry, too old. Young people get it first.’ Rationing will be the rule, until the Democrats have their way, and totally pollute and kill the medical profession so it won’t even be recognized.. Even Bob Bickel, the notorious left wing Democrat, as seen on “The Five,” and other places, has urged Obama to postpone Obamacare for a year, till the details get smoothed out, which of course they never will.
Home schooling is all in vogue now. Home schooled kids always excel, out class, and out test, public school kids. That’s because the home schooled have gotten out of the polluted public school system, which most have given up as a total failure. Name one thing government does, which works well. I defy you. The old fashioned one room schoolhouse, paid for by surrounding families who sent their kids to them, was a superior learning institution, and it cost taxpayers nothing. One of my best friends went to a one room schoolhouse in Montana, with his three brothers. All in the same room, and they came out very well educated, went to college, and did very well in the business world. Before the one room schoolhouse, all were home schooled, and were well educated. Politicians, as they are wont to do, decided that government schools would do a far better job that a one room schoolhouse. In 1833, Joseph Story, in his “Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States,” wrote, “A new race of men is springing up to govern the nation; they are the hunters after popularity, men ambitious, not of the honor so much as the profits of office…the demagogues, whose principles hang laxly upon them, and who follow not so much what is right, as what leads to a temporary, vulgar applause.” Lets hear it for the politicos who vote more and more freebies from bankrupt Washington, purveyors of Monopoly like dollars, rapidly losing value, but will pay for handouts not needed; done poorly and expensively, so that recipients will not shoot Santa Claus.
Throughout American history, there have been politicians who abhorred freebies and wasteful spending. Among them were George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson. Virtually all of the rest, except maybe Andrew Jackson, have spent recklessly. None have been as bad as Hussein Obama. Obama tries to force his socialism-communism-Muslimism on us by ’Executive Orders,” which he has used more than all the Presidents before him combined. I wish the Supremes would declare that Executive Orders were unconstitutional, but I am sure they won’t, even though they are. We have a Chief Justice, whose vote legalized Obamacare, to his everlasting shame, I trust. The dollar has been polluted, till it has lost 98% of its value. Farming has been polluted by endless farm subsidies, and our entire life has been polluted with endless regulations and worthless orders, perpetrated by mouth breathing, un-elected bureaucrats, and all are unconstitutional. Washington D.C. is a sieve of corruption, buyouts, payoffs, and ludicrous votes and actions, by 545 members of both houses of Congress. A couple of my best friends have become so disgusted, that they have left the Republicans and registered independent. Not me…so far anyway, because I just sent another $100 to the Tea Party Express, which is really our only hope. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, and of course Sarah Palin, who probably doubled votes for McCain, are totally correct in their desire to get rid of foolish government, balance the budget, and preserve the dollar’s value.
