It’s a well known fact, that Obamacare has now taken control of 6% of the national GDP, and for that matter, the entire medical sector, including doctors, hospitals, and patients. Tea Party Republicans made a serious error in shutting down the government over Obmacare. Everyone makes a mistake sooner or later, but that one was a doozy. Hopefully, Republicans will recover nicely before the elections a year from now, and it appears as if they have made a good start at it. One columnist says that the Obama Presidency is over, and lots of Democrats in both Senate and House, are distancing themselves from the President. Obamacare is self destructing, and what you now see, is only the beginning. Forbes Magazine say the only solution, is to totally repeal Obamacare, rather than trying to fix it, as it can’t be fixed.
There are other federal departments and cabinet positions, that are also taking our freedoms away, and as each day passes, we lose more of them. The Department of Education, was formed under Jimmy Carter. Its budget is $71 billion, and it basically controls American education. What the DOE says, public schools must obey, even though the DOE educates no one, and messes up everything. Jimmy Carter placed America’s education in the hands of the federal government. Unfortunately, all ’public’ schools are a disaster, because they are all run by a government.
The Department of Transportation was formed in 1967 under LBJ, and has a budget of $77 billion. It transports nothing, but its “DOT” symbol, has to be on virtually every mode of transport, signifying the approval of the DOT. The DOT controls railways, airlines, water carriers, trucks, and just about any transportation entity. From 1776 till the DOT, all transport worked very nicely. Millions of miles of railroad tracks and highways were invented, built and operated nicely, without government dictates. Air travel was invented, instituted, and operated well, without the DOT or FAA. The federal government built the Panama Canal at huge expense, and then gave it away. How dumb!
The TSA was formed in 2001 under George Bush. It has over 50,000 employees. It strip searches little old ladies, gropes young girls, and makes us all furious on occasion. The TSA has taken charge of airline and other safety. The federal government IS IN CHARGE OF TRANSPORTATION SAFETY. Airlines used to take care of their own safety, and employed people who did a fine job. They were private employees, and there was not a single problem with airline safety.
The NTSB, not part of the DOT, was also formed ion 1967 under LBJ, and has a budget of $102 million. The NTSB has taken charge of all transportation accidents in America. The federal government IS IN CHARGE OF ALL TRANSPORT ACCIDENTS. What percentage or private enterprise accident investigation employment, has been taken by government with the NTSB? Railroads, truckers, airlines, taxis, etc, used to report to insurance carriers, and find the faulty party or system, without government interference and inefficient federal bureaucracy. Private accident investigations adds to the profit sector and contributes to private employment.
Would there be a need for George Bushes’ corrupt Homeland Security with its 187 separate agencies, and a budget of over $35 billion a year, if we were neutral and stayed out of other people’s business, (MYOB)? Bush formed it after he got us into Iraq and Afghanistan, which was a ghastly error, and one we will never live down, nor finish paying for in debilitated dollars, plus lost and maimed lives.
Some may say, erroneously, that federal employees spend their salaries, and this contributes to the economy, so what’s the difference? The difference is that government employees’ salaries are paid by the taxpayer, and private employees are paid by profits from the company they work for, and that’s a BIG difference. Naturally, private employees and private companies are infinitely more efficient than any government at any level. There was a STOSSEL show on Fox Sunday, and he showed how private companies in all sectors, save money, and improve efficiency.
Mark Levin has written a new book, which I don’t particularly like, but he sums it all up with the following paragraph about the Founders’ intentions when they wrote our Constitution. “What was to be a relatively innocuous federal government, operating from a defined enumeration of specific grants of power, has become an ever-present and unaccountable force. It is the nation’s largest creditor, debtor, lender, employer, consumer, contractor, grantor, property owner, tenant, insurer, health-care-provider, and pension guarantor. Moreover, with aggrandized police powers, what it does not control directly, it bans or mandates by regulation. For example, the federal government regulates most things in your bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen, as well as the mortgage you hold on your house. It designs your automobile, and dictates the kind of fuel it uses. It regulates your baby’s toys, crib, and stroller; plans your children’s school curriculum, lunch menu; and administers their student loans in college. At your place of employment, the federal government oversees everything from the racial, gender, and age diversity of the workforce, to the hours, wages, and benefits paid. Indeed, it is not what the federal government regulates, but what it does not.”
Diane Feinstein, the multi millionaire Senator from California, whose husband has the contract to sell all the surplus post offices at a profit of probably billions, wants to censor the internet, which so far, is the one single, unobstructed, un-censored, means of communication in America. I ought to do a column on whether the Democrat are merely stupid or actually evil.
Since the federal government controls every facet of our lives, and since it is unbelievably inefficient and expensive, is it any wonder that jobs are gone, government grows in an uncontrollable mode, the dollar fades, and is threatened with cessation of being the world’s reserve currency? With millions of laws, rules, and regulations, which no one can possibly understand, such as the over 11 million words of additional rules and regulations over the 2700 page Obamacare, It, to me, would be virtually impossible to ever remove the crud that emanates from that capital of corruption, waste, lies, and fraud…Washington D.C.
