12% a year, and the EPA

I am not kidding!  I am no mathematical genius (in spite of being a white male!), but a quick look at the “technical charts’ on the web site, shows that ten years ago, gold was at $393.85.  The headline above says 12% a year.  It is true, even with gold at its current low.  Here’s how you do it.  Take its low of $393.85 and multiply by 12%, which gives you $441.11.  Multiply $441.11 by 12% and it is $494.09, etc.  The following eight years, gives you the following figures, adding 12% per year, which is compound interest, not simple.  The totals for the next eight years, multiplying by 12%, are $553.32, $619.72, $694.89, $777.38, $870.67, $975.15, $1092.17, and finally $1223.23, which, at 12% a year, compounded, is still below today’s low, low prices.

Where, in the name of common sense, can one get 12% a year, compounded, today?  CD’s with a fraction of 1%?  Real estate with taxes, insurance, vacancy factor, repairs, etc?  Nope.  Antiques?  Numismatics?  Collectables?  I don’t think so.  Numismatics have not gone up any faster than plain old bullion, and bullion doesn’t have to be graded, and certainly is not a matter of opinion.

Silver?  With a start ten years ago at $6.13, and multiply each year by 12% at compounded interest, the figures consecutively, are $6.87, $7.69, $8.61, $9.64, $10.81, $12.60, $13.55, $15.18, $17.10, and $19.04, or exactly like silver is today, after doing 12% compound interest for ten years.

Doing the same thing for either palladium or platinum, and you get far less interest, and neither metal was a good investment. Silver and gold have been real money, for thousands of years.  The first silver coin was struck in Egypt, thousands of years ago, and in Biblical times, all that was used as money were gold and silver.  Gold and silver, right now, are  very close to the cost of mining and production.  Suppose they just did a 12% rise in prices each year, for the next ten years?  Maybe they will, and maybe they’ll skyrocket up, because of failures of paper monies, which means inflation, and possible hyper-inflation.  My crystal ball fell off my desk last week, broke, and it won’t work any more, so I can’t tell you what’s in the future of anything.  Sorry, I just write this drivel.

The Environmental Protection Agency

The EPA’s existence was never established by a legitimate vote of the Congress, but was rather ’ratified’ by Congressional committees.  This was in 1970, under the Presidency of Richard Nixon.  However, also in 1970, the “Clean Air Act” was passed by Congress, and that was the official law which gave the EPA its powers to destroy whatever it thought to be noxious, whether it was or is, or is not.  It seemed to help the air a bit in places like LA, but under George Bush I, in 1990, amendments were instituted, with no Congressional vote, which has turned the EPA into a vicious, outrageous, all powerful, prosperity destroying agency, which should be abolished.  The EPA has facilitated Obama’s war on coal, and seems to be having a lot of success, at least in environmentalists’ opinions.  In their opinion, not the majority of thoughtful people.  Coal produces electricity at about four cents per kilowatt hour.  No electricity producing entity can equal it as far as cost.  EPA rules have made coal fired energy plants smoke free, and all particulates are contained in ’bags’ at the base of the stacks and none enter the air.  No one believes that coal fired generation plants are polluting the air, other than the carbon dioxide all burning fuels produce.

“Earth Warming,” is a phrase bandied about relentlessly, and so often, that people actually believe it.  THERE IS NO EARTH WARMING!  Temperatures haven’t budged in 17 years, and arctic ice is refreezing.  The past winter has been the coldest, snowiest in decades, and certainly does not prove that the earth is warming, but quite the opposite.  The awful carbon dioxide, which supposedly is ruining us,  has changed but one half of one percent in the last 50 years, and that has been all to the good!  Carbon dioxide makes plants and trees grow, because they inhale it and give off oxygen!  There IS NOT TOO MUCH CARBON DIOXIDE IN THE AIR!  It’s all a gigantic fraud, perpetrated by greenies and nut cases, and I feel trapped and unable to get out of the maze they have woven.  Obama and his Democrats have spun a web of falsehoods and lies that have trapped us so tightly, that even thoughtful people have begun to believe in the prevarications uttered by the media, who seem to be willing dupes to their madness.  Look for higher utility prices soon, plus hundreds of thousands of layoffs.

America is weakening and become the laughing stock of the world, thanks to endless rules, regulations, silly laws, bureaucracies, and thoughtless voters.  Is there no solution?  Must we decay like all other civilizations in the past, and be relegated to the scrap heap of ever increasing government intrusions ands taxes, which destroyed previous nations, such as Greece and Rome?  Now we have an AWOL soldier, who walked into the enemy’s welcoming arms, and was held for 5 years, till Obama turned loose 5 scumbags to release him.  Rather than facing a firing squad, as military procedures would require, he will be welcomed home with a big parade.  I wonder if he now thinks America is a disaster, as his e-mails stated before he deserted?  Yuk!
