The Torch is Passed! Who is David?

Since joining Colorado Gold in 2007, I’ve written a few columns in this space, but this is the first since my dad retired last month.  For those of you who haven’t read it, see the March 1, 2012 column entitled “Health Care Sans Government” to understand my thoughts about Obamacare and a much better alternative…  I know how many of our customers read this column and agree with most of what has been written over the years.  While I certainly don’t agree with everything my dad wrote, I want you to know that I’ve (the acorn) not fallen far from the tree, as the old saying goes!

Just to give you all a bit of background on me:  I’m a Certified Financial Planner since 2006, and a licensed investment adviser/stock broker since 2003.  I’m not currently registered with a brokerage firm, so I bring this up just to make you aware that I’m fairly well versed in the “other side” of the investment business.   A broad Knowledge of investing and investments can be very helpful when counseling our precious metals customers.

A bit about my philosophy: On my 21st birthday, my dad gave me Atlas Shrugged, which is probably as important a book as I’ve read in my life.  I’m sure most of you have read it, but it not, please take the time and do so.  Atlas Shrugged presents a fantastic juxtaposition between the society that we’ve created for ourselves in the past 50 + years, and the capitalistic, constitutional government the founding fathers created at our country’s founding.  Atlas Shrugged describes in detail what happens when the parasites gain a foothold in our society, and how our downfall is inevitable once that occurs.  It’s incredibly sad to think that Atlas Shrugged was written before our current welfare state was created, and we’ve still fallen right in step with what Ayn Rand predicted back in 1957! Trillions of dollars wasted, massive corrupt government, and a society completely clueless as to the ultimate end.   We’ve possibly reached a point of no return.  Simply put, the parasites have overwhelmed the host at this point.  We have more people with their hands out than ever before and an economy that simply can’t (or won’t, as in the case of Atlas Shrugged) cope.  The debt will be paid, one way or the other.  That is irrefutable!

So I’ll try to make this as entertaining as my dad did for all these years, and hopefully you’ll give me some time to catch on!  My sisters might even weigh in from time to time, so encourage them!

In closing, let me say that I deeply appreciate all of you for making our little family business as successful as it has become.  Colorado Gold serves thousands of regular folks who understand where we are heading and what needs to be done to protect ourselves.  We want to be the very best at what we do, and if there is anything that needs to change, please don’t hesitate to let one of us know.

Thanks again to all of you!

David
