You surely must remember one of the funniest movies ever made, (At least to me), and that is "Smokey and the Bandit," with Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, with Jerry Reed driving the big Peterbuilt. (Peterbuilts are the Rolls Royce of tractors). That was in 1977, and I laughed myself silly, as they did everything possible to state troopers, sheriffs, and law enforcement of all and every kind. Jackie Gleason as Sheriff Buford T Justice was a riot as well. I have it on DVD and have looked at it lots of times. Reynolds is 80 now, Sally Fields is pushing 70, still a cutie, and is a flaming liberal, but that's beside the point. The point is that they flouted the 'establishment' and got the Coors Beer through. I know, they violated every law on the books, but it was just so funny!
Now look at what Donald Trump has done to the "Republican Establishment" and I hope you smile when you think about it. Maybe Trump should adopt the nick name of "Smokey" Trump. I'll bet he'd go for it. Smokey Trump, in spite of millions of dollars spent in advertising to try to defrock and defame him, 'keeps on truck'in.' I don't know what will happen next Tuesday, but I hope he can get enough delegates to assure him the Republican spot in November. Romney is a disgrace to the party, and so are most of the old line 'establishment' Republicans in D.C. who, in spite of controlling both houses, have accomplished exactly NOTHING. The very idea of spending millions of dollars to destroy a candidate who is bringing in hundreds of thousands into the party, is beyond belief, and I am afraid that the Republicans are going to be extinct if the establishment don't stop. It won't be Smokey Trump who will be responsible for the demise of the Grand Old Party (GOP) if it happens, but the 'establishment' in the party itself.
They say, "He has never held office." So what? None of them has ever operated a business, met a payroll, and tried to show a profit. Being a businessman takes a lot more brains and stamina than 'being in office.' One doesn't have to 'be in office' to see what is wrong and fix it. I've never been in office either, and I guarantee I could fix America even quicker than Smokey Trump. Businesses pay taxes which keep the stuffy 'establishment' in office, at least till now. Businesses can go bankrupt as Trump's Atlantic City casinos did. It wasn't Trump that went bust, it was Atlantic City itself which went broke, and took hundreds of businesses with it. They say, "He changes his mind all the time." Is it wrong to change you mind if you realize you made a mistake? Any honest person would change their mind if proven wrong. "He uses dirty words." No he doesn't! Rubio started it by saying that Trump had certain kind of hands. He merely answered. Smokey Trump never has used a teleprompter, and when he gives a speech, he has just a small sheet of notes, which can carry him for a long time. "Trump inherited hundreds of millions of dollars from his father." Wrong! He inherited ten million, and has turned into ten billion. First time in history than a man is so smart and successful, that he has never asked anyone for a dime of support. That alone, should make him a great president.
America is weary of lying, useless politicos of both parties. A businessman has to keep track of his expenses to show a profit. If Smokey Trump gets into the White House, he will run America like a for profit business, and I can gleefully imagine his cutting the fat and waste out of government instantly. Smokey Trump will, if elected, do as I have been saying for decades, and that is turn D.C. into a 'ghost town,' with hundreds of thousands of unemployed ex-government employees wandering the streets.. Why, in spite of hundreds of millions spent against him, and every establishment Republican speaking and writing against him, does he keep on winning? It's all very simple. He is NOT a politician, and is proud of that fact. Voters are disgusted and revulsed with D.C. and its politicians. Citizens will vote against them, given a chance, assuming they have a particle of intelligence.. Rubio is toast if he can't win his own state of Florida, and Kasich is too, if he can't win Ohio. Cruz is not a likeable man, and his Canadian birth is still open to serious question. Even the Democrats are sick of lying, politician Hillary, and she is in trouble. The worst horror story I can comprehend, is President Hillary Clinton.
Do Republicans have a future as a party if the establishment doesn't stop trying to kill Smokey Trump? It will truly be an event written in history books, if the party kills itself in a case of self inflicted suicide.
