Bernie Sanders is advocating free college for everyone, and I am certain he would raise taxes to pay for it. Socialists everywhere, including Bernie and Hillary, are always ready to raise taxes to pay for handouts from government. Ever think of what handouts do for the recipients? Take public housing as an example. Who lives in public housing? Worthless, lazy, corrupt, violent, gangs, and other semi-humans, who are of no use to anyone and are a crime wave with multiple floors. Public housing can only last a couple of decades, and then must be demolished because of endless violence and human caused destruction. Public rest rooms? Public transportation? And of course public schools, which are 'free' and paid for with property taxes for the most part. If college tuition were paid for by taxes and were 'free,' colleges would become the same as public schools. Here are a few excerpts from my re-published book, "I Hold These Truths," Chapter 77, titled "Public Schools." (There are 63 books left, and when they're gone, it will not be re-printed.)
"Of all the examples of just how bad "public" things can be, schools are exemplary. America's public schools are graduating kids who can't read road signs, find their own country on a map, add, subtract, or use correct grammar. A bumper crop of dummies, who know nothing of history, art, or music, and are unfit for just about anything other than perhaps slinging hash at a greasy spoon. There, the cash register tells them how much change to give, and they only have to push picture buttons rather than real numbers on a cash register. America's public schools are an utter disgrace, and make a mockery of the word "education."
"Get government out of education. America's education system must be made private. All schools must eventually be made private schools and be operated for a profit. Without profit, there is no incentive for excellence, an ironclad rule. Disabuse your mind of what we have all been raised to believe: that education is a "right" of everyone, and it is government's job. If it is a "right," damned few are getting that "right" in the decaying public school system. Suppose parents were responsible for their own children's education, rather than government? Isn't that a radical idea now? Parents bring their kids into the world, raise them, support, clothe, house, and toilet train them. They teach them to speak, dress themselves. walk, go to bed, and eat. Why can't they be responsible for the rest of it? Why is that such a radical idea? Only because the world has been brainwashed by socialists into thinking education is a "right", not a parental duty, which it is.
"I know, you will say that some parents may not be smart enough to see to it that their children get an education. That's what is happening now WITH the public school system. Parents directly guide their kids in their formative years, and experts say that by age six, a child has already absorbed 50% of all they will ever learn. If a parent is a bum, they will probably raise bums, whether the school is public or not. If parents are working class parents, they will usually raise working class kids. Free people always do what they want to do, and succeed as they are able or choose. They rise to the limit of their abilities and guide their offspring as they see fit. This is as it should be. Government has no more business being in education, than it does telling you when to eat, sleep, or drink." (It's a long chapter and the above is a small part of it.)
Just imagine wonderful universities and colleges being lumped into the same category as public schools, and if government paid for it with increased taxes, universities and colleges would soon be as useless as are public schools. Everything government touches, turns into inefficient, wasteful, expensive, nonsensical, profligate, destructive, ruinous, outrageous whatever they touch, legislate about and control by bureaucratic squandering. Bernie will undoubtedly fail, but Hillary and the rest of the democrat socialists will eventually try to see to it that college is free to one and all. A faithful imitation of the public schools. God help us if Hillary becomes President!
