( I’m ambivalent about Trump’s Syria strike)
Do you have a ‘concealed permit’ to carry a gun? I don’t. Where, in the Second Amendment are there instructions for government to issue such a permit? Where, in our Constitution, does it require a gun owner to pass a mental exam or to take instructions about their use?
Sorry, I have read the Second Amendment over and over again, and I can find no such requirements.
Why don’t I have one? Because it is silly to submit to local law enforcement for permission to act as our Constitution allows.
Try applying for such a permit, and you will be registered, examined, and all your personal details recorded, be required to take a course on gun safety, plus charged about $50 a year for such a fallacious permit. Besides that, it is not illegal to strap a huge gun in a holster to your hips and parade about for all to see! But to carry a gun which is not visible, requires a permit???
I am a life member of the NRA, handle a gun safely, and have passed a sheriff’s exam to prove to myself that I can safely carry and use a gun. Not that it was required, but I knew the sheriff, and I thought it would be fun. I passed. I am not a shooter as a hobby. I’ve got guns, and ammo to fuel them, but I am not a hobby shooter. I have firearms for protection, and it’s that simple.
Why register yourself as a gun owner with a ‘carry permit?’ It seems to me that if ‘they’ ever come to collect them, ‘they’ (whoever ‘they’ are), will know where to go, because they have you on record as owning and having permission to carry one.
It would seem more logical to me to require a permit to carry a visible gun, not a concealed one, but I wouldn’t buy one of those either. In the monthly “Freedom” NRA magazine, there is always a section titled “The Armed Citizen.” In the April 2017 issue, there are six experiences of gun owners protecting themselves or others, by the use of their guns. Of the six, only one is listed as having a ‘carry permit.’
Help yourself if you wish to go through the gobbledygook, be examined and pay the fee to carry your Constitutional right to carry a gun which is concealed from obvious view. They then know where you are, what you have, and are an obvious target to the gun haters, lefties, and other scum which seems to magically appear at times. Not me.
