You remember it don’t you? If you went to school more than 45 years ago, you were taught about the Constitution. That’s the document copied around the world for its brevity and advocacy of freedom from government. The Constitution is supposed to be the law of the land, and the Supreme Court is supposed to decide if a case brought before it is Constitutional or Unconstitutional. The Constitution is a positive document, in the sense that it tells government what to do, not what it cannot do. Section Nine and Ten of Article One are possible exceptions, but these negatives also guarantee freedom. Examples are that there shall be no taxes on certain things, no titles of nobility, etc.
Our Constitution gives positive power to our central government to collect taxes, raise a navy, establish a post office system, institute elections, and all sorts of things necessary to operate a central government. Anything else, according to our Constitution, are things individual states are free to do. The funny thing is that federal government spending for things not in our Constitution, has gone on for well over a hundred years, and these expenditures were authorized by Congresses of both parties, signed into law by Presidents of both parties, and the Supreme Court has never said that these expenditures, rules and regulations covering these things, are Unconstitutional. They are.
Examples are any sort of welfare, and I mean any type, be it public housing, food stamps, subsidizing charities, and for that matter, subsidizing anything, including health care. There are no passages in the Constitution allowing or telling the federal government to pay anyone’s medical expenses, housing, heat, power, phones, transit, or anything it now Unconstitutionally pays. Perhaps the label “Conservative,” is a huge mislabeling, because it means to ‘conserve’ our Constitution, and so called conservatives, like liberals, have always joined hands to vote for more handouts. The sham continues this day, as the squabble about health care continue. Unconstitutional Obmacare was voted and signed into law by a Democrat controlled Congress and a Democrat President. Now another Unconstitutional government give-away health law is trying to be voted upon by a Republican Congress so that a Republican President can sign it into law. Both are Unconstitutional, as is every welfare handout by the federal government. States can do anything they choose to do, as the Constitution fosters competition, but any welfare scheme by the federal government, is purely and simply, Unconstitutional. Congress should vote Obamacare out, and leave it at that.
Why have Democrats and Republicans both, voted for, approved, and had Presidents sign into law, these Unconstitutional laws? Obviously, to get votes. George Bernard Shaw wrote: “A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.” Being a member of either the US Senate or House of Representatives, is such a huge ego trip, that the Constitution means absolutely nothing, compared to staying in office.
Suppose all welfare was voted out by Congress and signed into law by a President? There’d be riots and unimaginable terror in the streets. Once a government handout gets going, it is impossible to ever be rid of, unless those who vote it out can stand to be out of office. Limited terms of office? America then, will continue to decline, and the world will wonder what happened to that nation which had a marvelous Constitution, invented just about everything, and became the wealthiest, most prosperous, smartest, happiest, people on earth. The wealthiest were taxed into insolvency, the poor were paid to be poor, and multiplied like barnyard animals, rabbits and cockroaches, a fatal economic formula. Those who had invented, created jobs and prosperity, were castigated, called crooks, taxed excessively, and relegated into obscurity. As this is being written, Republicans are screaming at each other to see who can give the most largess from the public treasury to one and all who will depend on government to pay their medical bills. When the welfare isn’t paid for by taxes, the money is simply printed, put into circulation, and welfare schemes are paid with un-backed currencies. This is why prices continue to rise, because, “The more of anything there is, the less they will be worth, and this includes dollars.” I coined that phrase years ago, and it is in my books. That process is known as “Inflation.” One of the great statements made by an anonymous person is: “The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.” Or perhaps Thomas Jefferson saw into the future, when he said over 200 years ago: “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.” It matters not what Republicans come up with, and pass into law. Government sponsored medicine is just another nail in the American coffin.

I have no idea if the metals price decline has ended, but prices seem to have bottomed. “Buy low, and sell high.” They are still a huge bargain. – Don Stott
