The Wall

First of all, there already is a wall separating Mexico from the U.S.  It is hundreds of miles long, and currently is being repaired where needed.  It may not be high enough to prohibit ladders being raised to cross into the U.S., but there is a wall in place already, even though it is grossly inefficient.  Second, Trump was ready to sign a bill passed by both houses for a budget of about $4 trillion.  At the last minute, he changed his mind and said that he waanted $5 billion added for his wall.  The government shut-down therefore, was precipitated by Trump.  He's got himself boxed into a corner now, and can't seem to find a way out of it, without losing face.  At the same time, he is losing his popularity by all surveys, and is also hurting his chance of re-ection.  The Democrats now control the House, where all bills for money originate, and they are not going to fund his wall.  A huge stalemate.  Trump could possibly help himself with the State of the Union speech, but  Pelosi can stop his speech if she so choses.

Walls are very common in the world. In America, $6 billion has been spent on highway walls to keep noise out of residences.  Many of us live in gated communities, surrounded by walls.  Walls surround The White House, and hundreds of millions of homes and farms in America.  Walls surround military bases and factories, and we all lock our doors and cars to prohibit them from being robbed or stolen.  Our home therefore is a 'wall.'  America is our home, and a wall would keep out indesirables, just as a locked door on our home would do the same.  Walls are absolutely necessary in the world.  Vatican City is surrounded by a wall, and many walls separate nations in the world.  We build walls to protect ourselves and our properties.  Democrat presidents have many times asked for walls, and for far more than the $5 billion requested.  The Democrats know this, but their control of the House, allows Pelosi to go to Hawaii and Puerto Rico while Trump stews.  The fact that Trump changed his mind at the last minute, over a funding bill, makes him responsible for the shut-down, and there's no question about it.  He wants them to negotiate, and they see no reason to do so.  The blame is on Trump, the Democrats know it, and are very happy about it.  Newt Gingrich thinks the shut-down will last till late February.  As each day passes, the blame more and more comes to Trump.  Trump's request for $5 billion is less than 1.5% of his budget approved by both houses.  It has nothing to do with cost or security.  It has to do with the utter hatred of Trump by Democrats, who still can't understand why he won.

What will happen?  I have no idea, but Trump will simply have to give in, or have more and more of America blame him.  if this goes on as long as Newt thinks, Trump can kiss re-election goodbye.  He's done so much for America so far, what a shame to lose him over less than 1.5% of the government budget.  Many times in a life, people have to admit they made a misrtake or goofed in some way or other, and it is Trump's time to get the government going…now.  Each day of the shut-down, helps tokill his second term in the White House.  I love the guy, but his spur-of-the-moment failure to sign a bill passed by both houses, may be cost him his second term. His speech Saturday was futile.   Remember, WW I was started by one murder.  Is Trump's second term being bashed by his refusal to give in on a tiny amount of the annual budget?  As the old saying goes, "Pride goeth before a fall," and this may apply to Donald Trump.  Don Stott 1-888-786-8822 or don@coloradogold.com.
