Gold Prediction

I don’t make predictions, as I have written over and over again, but a six column, half page piece in the Journal (Wall Street) last week, complete with graphs, is headlined “GOLD IS HEADED FOR ITS BEST YEAR SINCE 2010.”  Since Qassem Soleimani was assassinated Friday morning, and since gold has gone up about $75 in the last week or two, I have no idea where it will stop.   I was going to write about the Journal piece, but the assassination made such an article pointless.  Gold is always real money, and more so when things go badly.  Did Trump do the right thing?  I say yes.

Among the Journals long piece, I will quote one.  These are not my words, but the Journals’.  “The market is being supported by increasing risks around the world.”  There is really not much more for me to write since the assassination Friday, so I won’t, other than to say that all of the troubles in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the rest, can be traced back to George W. Bush.  I voted for him once, but could never do it twice.  His invasion, half way approved by Congress, has cost thousands of American lives, millions of innocents, and has cost over a trillion bucks so far, and Trump has sent 750 more troops to add to the 5,000 already there.  It’s not over and won’t be till every American soldier is brought home.  Ours is not the job to keep world peace and mess in everyone’s business.  When Trump sends me a questionnaire about his performance, I always add at the end, “Get out of Afghanistan and Iraq and bring troops home to patrol the Mexican border.”

“Oh our troops are helping to keep things quiet,” might be the claims of Republicans, but who cares?  The Muslims have been killing each other for thousands of years.  The Muslim religion is the only religion in the world, as far as I can determine, which has a holy book instructing its adherents to kill unbelievers.  Even in America, there are web sites where Muslims can be almost instantly radicalized if they watch long enough, I hear.  The saying, “All Muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims,” seems to be about 90% true.  No wonder Trump wants to keep them out.

The UK is getting out of the EU for many reasons, but one of them is that the E.U. dictates members must admit illegals who are mainly Muslims.  Germany did it as well as a few other European nations and they are very sorry now with all the crime, rapes, and lack of a desire to even try to learn the language of the nation they got to, thanks to the E.U.’s force.  It is also said that the E.U. is so corrupt and full of useless  and expensive bureaucracy, paid for with huge dues, that Turkey and Poland, plus maybe Greece and Italy are considering following the Brits.  Time will tell.

I just watched a 1965 movie, “The Pawnbroker,” and it is sadly very dramatic, about the Halocaust.  It left me remembering the slums, congestion, and madness of New York, where it was filmed, and other major cities.  As I write this, there are cloudless blue skies out my window in a town of 19,000, and I see three 14,000 foot peaks 35 miles away.  We have none of the big city air, noise, traffic, crime, racism, unionism, confusion, and high prices so common elsewhere.  I wear a MAGA hat here, and people smile.  I wouldn’t dare to do so in a large city.  Pray for a rainstorm at eastern Australia. don@coloradogold.com
