Police Racism?

By Don Stott 6/7/2020

This column will be direct quotes from two books and a song, plus my comments.  From the book “The War on Cops.”  “The charge of systemic police bias was wrong during the Obama years and remains so today.  However sickening the video of Floyd’s arrest,  (murder- Don) it isn’t representative of the 375 million annual contacts that police officers have with civilians.  In 2019, police officers fatally shot 1004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous.  African Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235).  African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and committed about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population.”  Note:  I disagree with that figure, since most black crimes are committed by males, so in my opinion, the black offenders constitute less than 7% of the population.

Don’t Call Rioters ‘Protesters.’

From a book titled “The Rise and Fall of Violent Crime in America.”  “Economists tallied an extraordinary 752 riots between 1964 and 1971, involving 15,835 incidents, 228 deaths, 12,741 injuries, and 69,099 arrests.  At the time, black radicals and some white leftists saw the riots purely as political protest.  Witnesses on the scene described the rioters as “engaging in a joyful hooliganism; looting and destroying private property with wild abandon.”  Historian Sidney Fine describes the riots as in a “carnival atmosphere,” with a black minister eyewitness describing participants as being, “Gleeful in throwing stuff and getting stuff out of the buildings.”  A young black rioter told a newspaper reporter that he “Really enjoyed himself.”

How disgustingly equal the above is to today’s riots in major and even minor cities and towns.  I watched the Fox TV coverage of the riots which still continue, till I got sick of it, but I never saw a white looter.  The whites seem to be marching with signs, and being stupid, but I only saw blacks doing the window breaking with rocks and bricks stored at convenient locations, and carrying off everything that wasn’t tied down and stuff that was tied down.  I do believe that out of towners and other far left groups have instigated the riots.  The continual “Black Lives Matter” signs are paraded on the marches, but that phrase originated in Ferguson Missouri on August 9, 2014, when black Michael Brown robbed a convenience store, was stopped by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, who retreated to his police car to call for backup.  In the altercation which followed, the FBI report stated unequivocally, that Wilson was innocent and Brown guilty. The media then, and ever since, has described the event as being Wilson’s fault.  “Black Lives Matter,” in other words is founded on a total lie.  The arson and destruction of private property, ruining thousands of lives, destroying businesses and livelihoods of innocents, the murder of Floyd, and all originating in China, will never leave my mind.  It brings to mind an old song, as sung by Eddie Arnold.

           “Don’t Rob Another Man’s Castle”

“They say a man’s home is his castle

And he’s like a king on a throne

It may be a shack alongside the track

But everything in it’s his own

Don’t rob another man’s castle

Don’t take his treasures away

Strange as it seems, when you steal a man’s dreams

You never know then, how you’ll pay.”

Aren’t the ruined businesses and desecrated buildings and shops, the ‘castles’ of its owners, just like the song likened a castle to a home?  The Wall Street Journal on Friday, was full of heartbreaking stories of people whose lives and savings have been destroyed by brick throwing looters, who seem to be, as the book above describes, as having a “joyful” “gleeful” time in an atmosphere of a “carnival.”  If these seemingly semi-human creatures are having such a great time ruining everything they come in contact with, my question is, why not shoot them?  They’re useless to our civilization.  If one of them broke into our home and we shot them, we’d be held innocent.  Why, if a looter, was shot, would it be any different than if he broke into your house?  There are probably half a million police on duty in the U.S. as the riots continue.  How long would the theft and looting continue if a loud, continuous warning, written, radio broadcast, TV broadcast, and signage were issued, that all looters would be shot? As we watch the thousands and thousands of paraders, some of them rioters, no one seems to be mentioning the six foot clearance the fools in government advocate.  Why not?  Those masks, as has been endlessly pointed out, do no good.  Maybe Trump will soon begin his rallys again.  Aren’t they fun?
