Why Don’t We Call?

From page two of Saturday’s Wall Street Journal, a bold headline reads, “Metals Scam Said to Prey on Conservatives.”  The first paragraph reads, “Two Los Angeles men and their companies duped investors out of $180 million in a scheme targeting conservative and religious investors into buying precious metals at exorbitant prices, regulators said Friday.”

The third paragraph begins with “The defendants made sales pitches through telephone calls and social media posts telling investors the government could seize their assets unless they converted them into precious metals…”

Fourth paragraph begins with, “Victims were persuaded to sell securities in retirement accounts and use the proceeds to buy gold and silver at markups ranging from 100% to 300%.”

It’s a long article; too long to quote completely, but the point is made beginning with the fifth paragraph which begins with, “The defendants swindled tens of millions from the victims who were targeted for their politically conservative and Christian leanings.”

The point is that Colorado gold NEVER CALLS ANYONE. Think about it:  If you want something, you will go to a store and buy it, or as is now common even with grocery stores, call, pay with credit card, and pick it up at curbside, although I have never done that.  The grocery store doesn’t call you.  You call the grocery store, because you want groceries, and the same with metals.  Precious metals advertisers on TV have sales people in booths, making sales calls all day long, and it makes me sick to even think about what they must be telling people they call.

When a sales person calls you; guess why?  Is it because they have your best interests at heart, and want o help you out?  Of course not!  They call you because it is in their interest to make a sale, whether you need the merchandise or not.  They make a living, persuading you that you need what they are selling, whether you need it or not.  The sales pitch is to convince you that while you didn’t think you needed or wanted whatever they are selling, they have a special price or sale going on, and if they are skilled at BS enough, they might convince you.  Advertising does the same as phone calls in a way, but you can decide not to read the ads, so no one is bothering you with phone calls. TV ads make you change the channel, except the TV managers all seem to have the ads at the same time on all channels, so changing channels only gets you from one ad to another. That’s why I watch commercial free things on TV, like movies.  The internet can fool you if the ad tells you that you get free anything, if you buy from them.  Nothing is free in life!

WHEN SOMEONE CALLS YOU TO BUY SOMETHING, IT IS TO THEIR BENEFIT, NOT YOURS.

You want new tires?  Carpeting? Repairs?  See a provocative ad promising a gift or limited time offering?  Lies on top of lies generally.  I am not trying to be negative, but how many phone calls do you receive a day selling stuff?  I simply hang up, and I get sick of them.  On the internet, you can go to the bottom and click on ‘unsubscribe,’ but the phone calls drive me nuts, and I have no way to stop them.

The last paragraph of the article reads, “A federal judge in Dallas this week ordered the defendants’ assets frozen.  Regulators said it was too early to know how much money might be available to compensate victims.”  We’ve had an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau since 1977, and if you can keep that rating for 43 years, you must be doing something correct.  And that’s without making any phone calls or doing an advertising, other than our web site.  I hope someone can throttle Donald Trump’s mouth by the next debate!

P.S. Monday Morning: I hope the next debate occurs.  Think about it, and I hope this observation is totally incorrect.  Since Donald Trump came on the scene, and was nominated, the Democrats have done every single trick conceivable to anyone, and have even invented a couple, to keep him from being re-elected now, and to get him out of office for the last three and a half years.  They have stopped at nothing, and now their further object is to keep a new Supreme Court Justice, a Constitutionalist who clerked with Scalia, out of office.   Also, you must surely note that two of the Judicial committee members have also contracted the Chinese virus.  Are the Demos behind this?  I am certain that we will never know the ins and outs of the Swamp to get their will done.  Biden is a multi-millionaire and has been in politics most of his life and his son’s life also.  The SWAMP is full, and Trump is attempting to drain it.  Let’s hope he lives to do so!
