A Hundred Years

Almost to the day, Putin invaded Ukraine on the hundredth anniversary of that date in 1922, when Russia invaded a dozen nearby nations, and forced them into submission, which formed the “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics,” (USSR), commonly known as the “Soviets,” which carried on communism after the 1917 revolution.  The Soviets, (communists) ruled Russia under Joseph Stalin, its founder, till his death in 1953.  Stalin was cruel, ruthless, and never lost sight of his belief, similar it seems, to Putin’s, that if something is to be done, it is government’s job to do it, force citizens to become virtual slaves, and any other method is wrong, and must be punished severely.  Under Stalin’s and other communists, with few exceptions, private property, and other capitalistic ideas and theories, such as freedom, multi-party elections, competition between people, businesses, and all sectors of life, were forbidden. Stalin murdered 30 million, and Russians literally starved to death under his rule.  All farms were under government control, and did as government and Stalin ordered, which is why everyone starved.  Stalin, like Putin, was drunk with evil power.  I am beginning t think that Putin may be intelligent, but is also psychotic, and a threat to the entire world.

The Soviets made a non-aggression pact with Hitler in 1941, which he almost immediately broke, invaded, and began a war against the Soviets.  Hitler hated communists, and like today’s Putin, he thought that it would be a quickie to overcome Russia, as Putin thinks he can quickly destroy Ukraine.  Hitler actually lost World War Two, when he forgot, or never realized, that Russia has unbelievable winters.  Hitler lost 250,000 frozen, starved troops in that invasion, but it took an additional three years for him to lose it completely, costing Russia 20 million deaths, and millions elsewhere, including 360,000 American lives lost.  Hitler’s socialism and Stalin’s communism failed, because they simply cannot work, and in 100% of the time, they have failed completely.  Democrats will eventually find that to be true also.  Unfortunately, it often takes some time for truths to work.

69 years after its founding, the Soviets went bankrupt.  In December, 1991, it collapsed, and all 13 Soviet Nations were relieved of communism, including Russia, and Ukraine.  In 1999, Putin, a former colonel in the Russian KGB, became president of Russia, but he never forgot the power and rule of communism.  “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” goes the saying, and it proved so true with Putin, who glories in his power, plus is extremely rich… having his life spent in ‘public service.’  Sounds like Biden!  Ukraine, after 1991, became the most wonderful example of a freed nation.  Ukraine blossomed like flowers in spring, and the more prosperous it became, the more Putin became irritated with it.  As Ukraine prospered, Russia declined, increasing Putin’s hatred.

In 1949, 30 free nations, came to realize that General Patton was correct, when he told Eisenhower, after the war had ended, that ‘We ought to go on to Moscow, and get the commies out of power, because we’re going to have to do it eventually,’ or words to that effect.  30 free nations got together, fearing the Soviets, who had begun the ‘cold war,’ and formed “NATO,” or the “North American Treaty Organization,” under which, members would protect other members, if it became necessary.  It looks as if that rule may soon be applied. NATO consisted of; as examples: The United States, Hungary, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, and the list is composed of large and small nations.  Ukraine was not a member, so NATO members are not required to protect it.  Currently, non-NATO nations are doing everything in their power to stop Putin’s ravaging of Ukraine,  and we all wish for their and our success.

In 2014, under Obama, Ukraine lost Crimea to Russia, after Putin conducted a fake ‘election,’ which he said Crimeans wanted to return to Russian control.  Ask any Crimean how his land was before and after Russian literally captured it, with no interference from anyone, and they will tell you that before,  it was a wonderful place, full of businesses and vacationers, and now it is hell.

In 2008, part of Georgia was captured by Putin, and he still holds that part.  Georgia is not part of NATO.  Putin hates NATO, and Ukraine. Years of threats, and border clashes with Ukraine, some say, cost 14,000 deaths.  When Donald Trump was in office, he sent millions of dollars worth of Javelins, which destroy tanks, plus other things, to Ukraine, making Putin hate it even more, but he was afraid to do anything, because of Trump’s popularity and promises to “Make America Great again.”  Bullies don’t mess with powerful people or nations.  America unfortunately, barely elected Joe Biden as president, who obviously is a total weakling, and as far as I am concerned, is borderline dementia.  It is doubtful that Biden is capable of making a decision or writing a sentence on his own, but seems semi-adequate to read a teleprompter.  Biden, obviously does as he is told, by his woke, green, socialist Democrats, who obviously control him.  Biden is an empty faced puppet, which is just what Putin needed.  Putin soon realized Biden’s weakness, and in his circle, he began a cyberwar on American businesses, which continues to this day.  He also began making plans to overthrow Ukraine, and as he says, “Wipe it off the map.”  Putin hates freedom, capitalism, free elections, and all that NATO nations enjoy.  He began assembling troops and tanks on the Ukraine border, telling everyone that he had ‘no intention of invading.’  Russian lies are virtually universal, and that one was typical.  Most believed it, and when it happened, everyone was shocked.  Even more shocked, when it was realized that Putin is almost a kid glove copy of Stalin.  He cares nothing about International Law, UN demands, or the destruction of any building or people who may get in his way.

Before the recent Olympics in China, Putin and Xi got together and promised to help each other if needed, but in a recent UN vote condemning Putin’s invasion, China abstained, rather than voting ‘NO.”  I think that China’s economy is in the basement, and close to a collapse, and in my opinion, they can’t afford to help Putin.  China has loaned trillions of yuan to various nations, and made huge commitments around the world, as well.  Thanks to Covid 19, which China started, borrowers are unable to make payments on their loans to China, plus 80% of Chinese have invested in the Chinese real estate bubble.  I can think of nothing more delicious, than the Chinese and Russian economies collapsing. One thing that is going to help, is the SWIFT banking program, finally being put into effect, which may help to destroy the Russian economy.  In Russia, thousands have demonstrated against Putin’s actions, and hundreds have been arrested.  Russia is no place to object to anything not approved by its government.  Putin’s actions, we can hope, will cost him his office and make Russia pay damages.  A 99% chance that will not happen.

As classic example of the Putin-Stalin modus-operendi, Putin is bombing and destroyed ambulances, hospitals, orphanages, private residences, apartments, and now has instructed his nuclear division to get themselves ready to act.  Where will this end?  Remember, Vietnam and Korea accomplished nothing for America, and at a cost of trillions of dollars of debt and hundreds of thousands of lives and injuries.  North Korea is still there, and Vietnam is communist.  We have to do this without another foreign war!
