In 1961, a film was released about the 1949 trial of the Germans in WW II, titled “Judgment at Nuremberg.” It is a long, black and white film, and received many Academy Awards. I have watched it a few times, and even have a DVD of it. I now can compare it in many ways to what is going on now in Ukraine, after watching it Thursday morning on Turner Classic Movies, I am shocked at the comparison between Hitler and Putin.
Putin has called the Ukraine government and citizens, “Nazis,” except it is Putin who is a Nazi. Like Hitler, Putin is a cold-hearted brute of a dictator, interested in his own power, and has exercised it since his ‘election’ in 1991, at which point he said that he was going to, ”Rebuild the Soviet Union.” Hitler gained his German presidency in 1933, and began building the Third Reich immediately. Ukraine is the latest and most bold of Putin’s efforts so far, but he promises more. Putin’s previous efforts, like Hitler’s, were initially allowed to go un-punished.
Putin has invaded and conquered other nations, killing innocents and massive destruction of hospitals, schools, governmental, commercial, and residential buildings, while never giving even a thought that he is destroying his nation, his presidency, and demolitions it might take fifty years to replace or repair. Like Hitler, he has no idea that he has started a war he cannot win. Until Hitler committed suicide, he still thought his Third Reich was winning, and Putin doesn’t realize that his brief efforts so far, are impossible to win long term. Like the Germans in WW II, Hitler had many of his soldiers and ruling class believing that it was a good, winnable war, and the Jews were the enemy. Putin thinks peace loving, prosperous Ukraine is his enemy, and vows to “Wipe it off the map,” regardless of immediate or long-range consequences., which will be a total disaster for Russia. The incredible consequences of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, have already begun, a month after his war began.
When Hitler conquered a nation, he didn’t destroy buildings and kill citizens, except Jews in concentration camps. He invaded with red flags and swastikas, promising jobs and prosperity, not destroying property. Hitler’s officers were well dressed with outstanding uniforms, and even though the results were devasting to one and all. Hitler was drunk with power as is Putin. Actually, Putin is more evil than Hitler, since he is turning cities into nothing but rubble. Germany’s rubble was from Allied bombing, not Hitler’s destroying them.
Putin thinks that might, wholesale destruction, and cruelty will win, and like Hitler, he waited till a weakling (Biden) was president in the United States to begin his largest effort so far. Until Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt was more concerned about the depression than Europe. It wasn’t until December 7, 1941, that Roosevelt came to realize what Germany had been doing to Europe for three years. Like Hitler, Putin has gagged the press and media, and most Russians today, believe that his ‘military action to kill the Nazis in Ukraine,’ is OK, at least till they find the truth of it. Pictures, radio, and press from outside Russia, have begun to infiltrate themselves into Russia, so it won’t be long until the truth is out. Most Germans were not part of Hitler’s party. Now, protesting Russians are jailed and charged with ‘disturbing the peace.’ When the truth of Putin’s war is well known in Russia, tens and hundreds of thousands of demonstrators can’t be arrested, as there will be far too many. Free nations were caught by surprise when Putin invaded Ukraine, when he said he wasn’t going to do it. Hitler lied equally about his intentions. Hitler said he merely wanted his Sudetenland back, not a war. There were several attempts on Hitler’s life from disgruntled officers, who came to realize that he was drunk with power, and had taken leave of his senses. It may or may not have happed yet with Putin, but it will in the near future.
Like Hitler, Putin has rebuilt his armed forces, and America under Obama and Biden has done the opposite, except under Trump, who did the best he could in four years. The ravaging continues, and 1.5 million Ukrainians have already left, with far more to come. Before the recent China Olympics, Chinese Xi and Putin had a meeting, promising each other support if needed. Even China now as changed its mind about Putin’s war. Before Putin’s attack began, he said he wanted NATIO to promise that it would not accept Ukraine into membership. If Biden had simply said, “Ukraine will never be a member of NATO,” this war might never have happened.
Precious Metals
I did a trade last Thursday, and Friday, he was at a profit position. Biden’s inflation and Putin’s war have devalued the dollar, which is backed by the “Full Faith and Credit of the U.S. Government,” and that phrase alone should be a warning. The ten-year interest rate for fed bonds is 1.73%, meaning that if you found out that your bank was only giving you a half percent interest, you might go to treasuries as ‘security,’ as most financial channels name them. Whoopee! You invest $1,000, and a year later you have $1073. The $73 is taxable. With current 7.5% inflation, at the end of the year, your $1,000 would only buy you $925 worth of merchandise, and add the $73 fed interest if you had bought a ten year bond, and you have $1,000 buying $990 worth of stuff, and $73 of it is taxable. Not like last week’s client of mine, is it? Six years ago, gold was $1,000 an ounce. You figure the interest rate per year till now.
Six years ago, if you bought gold at the price then, you might have been worried about the future. If you bought an ounce of gold from me, when I began Colorado Gold in 1977, you would have paid about $250. You might have been worried then also, or at any stage since. A couple of years from now, you might remember your feelings if you had bought gold at current prices. Since neither myself, nor any other living person can tell you what will happen, a half hour from now, we can only speculate. All of life is speculation! You speculate that the sun will rise tomorrow morning, that your car will start, none of your family will die, and your name will not be the obituaries. All of life is not knowing what will happen in the future. However, some speculation is easier to guess at than others, and that’s why life insurance policies are much cheaper for a 25 year-old who doesn’t smoke, do drugs, or have a dangerous job. I have been driving for over 70 years, have never had an accident or a point, nor ever made an insurance claim. My auto insurance is pretty low. Gold and silver are premium free insurance policies. Once you buy them, they continue to protect you with no monthly fees. I say it is impossible for inflation to be cured, even though Biden promised he would reduce the national debt by a trillion. I speculate that he will increase the national debt my more than a trillion, and that gold will be a lot higher a year from now. Consult your astrologer!
