Weekend at Bernie’s

I wrote a column with this title in February, 2004, and the idea is still the same, but the picture is different.  In the 1989 film with that title, two guys are invited by their boss to spend a weekend at his posh place in the country.  When they get there, Bernie, their boss is dead, and no one knows it, or who did it. Not wanting to be charged with murder, they decide the only way out, is to pretend he is alive, and prop him up while they are there, and hope no one comes around before they get out.  Naturally, a few people come to visit Bernie, and the comedy is pretty good.

How about a film which could easily be made titled, “A Weekend With Biden.”  Since he seems to be a walking, talking, moving, empty faced, dead man.  Think of the possibilities.  Or maybe, “A Weekend With Inflation,” which might correspond with a weekend at Bernie’s.  Inflation is not caused by the Federal Reserve, but by Biden, and Democrat reckless spending.  The Federal Reserve is a mere ‘correspondent,’ having to create and print bonds out of thin air and selling bonds to the Treasury, which prints dollars, causing taxpayers to pay interest in the form of increasing the National Debt.

Maybe “A Weekend in Washington D.C.”  That should be a winner, since the D.C. crowd, including RINOs, (Republicans in name only) and Democrats are, as Trump said, a literal swamp of lies, fake news, payoffs, bribes, and every known creepy bureaucrat, politician, and most of Congress.  I grew up in D.C. and went back there for a funeral a couple of years ago.  I was born there in 1934, went to school  and grew up there, and it was a really nice place.  I rode my Schwinn bike all over D.C. in summer without a single fear of anything, and my Dad’s drugstore, which I grew up in, and which he had for 36 years, was never robbed.  The marble soda fountain had nickel Cokes, and we sold nickel Hershey bars, twenty-one cent a pack cigarettes, and nickel “White Owl” cigars.  I was making 75 cents an hour, gas was 20 cents a gallon, and I rode streetcars and busses to school for a three-cent school ticket, and rode other times for a dime with free transfers.  Nothing was propped up, it was real.

What changed that, was the same as is now on-going, and that is government spending more than it takes in with taxes.  You and I can’t do that, and if we did, it wouldn’t take long to go bankrupt.  Government, almost since its founding over 400 years ago, has been spending more than taxes bring in, and unlike 400 years ago, there are taxes on absolutely everything.  A phone call, gallon of gas, or any purchase of anything, is loaded with taxes.  There are literally thousands of taxes levied on transport, manufacture, farming, communication, and even death.  With all the taxes, the debt still grows daily.

In 1934, the national debt was $25 billion, and today it is well over $31 trillion.  Check it our for yourself. The National Debt clock can be found at www.usdebtclock.org.  The U.S. Government’s slogan, which it proudly proclaims is, “The Full Faith and Credit of the U.S Government,” is as fake as three-dollar bills, but about 300 million citizens really believe it.  The public relations of the swamp, is so persuasive, that millions fall for it, and believe the dollar is safe in which to save.  It’s a leaky bucket.

I love America, and it is amazing that in over 400 years, it is still here and hasn’t gone bankrupt a long time ago.  It can’t, because it prints all the money it needs to pay its bills, thereby constantly lowering their value.  Trump did his best, and I understand that a new film titled, “2,000 mules,” makes firm, truthful arguments that maybe Trump did indeed win.  I haven’t seen it, but I hope it is out on DVD, as I want to add it to my library.  Even Trump, who did the best he could, never came close to balancing the budget, and the debt clock continued running away, even during his presidency.  Trump didn’t protect us, and laws don’t protect us, or we wouldn’t have drugs, illegals, robberies, rapes, thefts, drunk drivers, and the like.  We, therefore have to protect ourselves with guns, gold and silver.  A Texas sheriff said that we should shoot to kill to save court time, and he is correct.  Always shoot to kill, because the courts now-a-days release criminals with no bonds and little, is any, detention, thanks to ‘Sanctuary Cities,” and crooked or stupid judges, usually who have been appointed by a Democrat.

As I write this on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in western Colorado, with low humidity, clean air, blue sky and a gentle wind breezing about with a temperature of 78, I’m glad I’m debt free, have never owned a share of stock or had a savings account. Before I started doing metals in 1977, I always spent money as fast as I made it.  Gold was about $250 when I started doing this, and I began saving it then, as I thought dollars would be a bad investment.  I was right.  My kids are at Colorado Gold to help you do what I began doing 40 years ago.
