There have been a rash of shootings of late, and last weekend, there were more. To Buffalo and Uvalde, have been added Philadelphia, New York, Chattanooga, and others. Naturally, the liberals and Democrats are writing new gun laws they will attempt to pass. Nothing new here. Maybe I can help them, if they read this.
A gun is a mechanical device. It has no brain. A gun, is incapable of hurting or killing anyone. When someone is killed by the use of an inanimate gun, the gun was being operated by a human. There are evil humans operating guns, soldiers operating guns on orders of their superiors, and hunters operating guns to kill game to eat. There are guns operated by target shooters, and there are probably close to a hundred million guns, which have never been operated by anyone, but are for protection against evil persons. Passing legislation to ban the sale of guns, solves nothing, for at least two reasons, and probably more.
- Most crimes committed with a gun, or guns, which have been stolen from people who had not even the slightest desire to commit a crime.
- Most crimes committed by criminals, use hand guns, and the weapons Democrats wish to control, are virtually never used in a crime.
Here’s my idea to solver all the crime problems. Drunk drivers kill hundreds each year, and 41,000 are killed by traffic accidents. Let’s pass legislation to abolish all motor vehicles, since ‘they kill people.’ ‘They’ didn’t kill anyone, I want to emphasize.
At one time, if you watch old movies on Turner Classis Movies, as I do, it seems that everyone smoked. My dad died from smoking, and growing up in his drug store, cigarettes seemed to be bought by everyone. Naturally, liberals passed laws attempting to kill the tobacco industry. It didn’t work, but what did work, was the un-wanted publicity, proving that smoking kills by cancer. I understand that smokers are down to about 15% of our population, and it used to be almost 75%. No legislation did that.
Many innocents die each year, by doing dangerous exercises, such as climbing mountains. We can’t legislate mountains out of existence, but why not make climbing them illegal?
There have recently been a host of New York subway shootings. There have also been people who have been pushed off platforms to be run over by trains. How awful. Let’s abandon subways! That may save a couple dozen lives each year or even month. After all, we must protect our people from harm. Isn’t that what legislation is for?
Alcohol, must kill several hundred thousand each year, why not make it illegal? I forgot! That was tried already, with the 18th Amendment to our Constitution. All that did was start the FBI, enlarge government, and cause hideous amounts of crime. Since it failed, the 21st Amendment got rid of it, thankfully.
Illegal drugs, kill a couple hundred thousand each year, and they have always been illegal. We’ve already got those laws, and they don’t work.
Illegal aliens, commit all sorts of crimes, but laws haven’t stopped that, and under Biden, there is a virtual open invitation for them to enter.
Floods and earthquakes, kill many, and destroy property each year, but I can’t see how any legislation would stop that.
Most deaths each year, seem to be caused by old age or disease, and that means all of us. No legislation can stop that. Smart people prolong their lives by not smoking, not consuming excess alcohol, taking vitamins, moderate exercise, driving carefully, and of course, having guns in their homes.
Go to Google, as I just did as I write this, and I asked it, “How many crimes each year are prevented by citizens owning guns?” The answer is 2.5 million, or close to 6,900 each day. I’ve never shot anyone, but I did pass the sheriff’s test, in case I ever needed to use one or more of my guns. They just sit in various parts of my home, and never get used.
Unfortunately, in far too many parts of the world, citizens do not own guns. In those places, crime is common, and governments are crooked. In America, the realization by politicians, that there are close to a hundred million guns in private hands, scares the bejesus out of them, because the Second Amendment was made part of our Constitution, not only to protect ourselves, but as a wonderful harness on government; and unfortunately, that part hasn’t worked too well, but it could. Could Hitler, or any dictator, have ever gotten to their positions of power, if the citizens had been armed? The answer is NO. Why has Putin been thwarted in his attempted takeover of Ukraine? He thought it would be a three-day affair. Because the Ukrainians had guns, and knew how to use them! It’s all very simple.
Making guns illegal, is similar to fighting climate change. Those idiots fail to realize, that the average of 40 volcano eruptions each year, spew forth more CO2 than they could ‘prevent,’ in a hundred years, with their efforts to tax and harass us each year. Isn’t government wonderful, and especially at the federal level?
