What no civilization needs, is exactly what has happened to America over the past 248 years. Most historians, say that nations survive about 250 years, before they collapse. What has gradually happened to us, to cause our final collapse and slow degradation? It is lies in the names of ‘humanity,’ ‘need,’ ‘kindness,’ taking care of those in need,’ or other, which can be grouped together, and be called ‘welfare.’ To me, any and all ‘welfare,’ in any form, at any cost, at any time, is degrading to its recipients. Before welfare, churches and charitable organizations took are of the needy, and usually required work for their benefits. Shovel snow, chop wood, clean the hall, etc., and we’ll help you out.
There are many examples, going back, almost to our origin. As an example, public schools; which were started in 1830, by Horace Mann. Were Americans poorly educated before the schools were free? No, and home schooling now, as in pre-1830, has become recognized as far better than our absurd public schools, which basically teach little, and are bankrupting us.
When anything is free, especially from government, it is always taking from the producers, and giving it to the non-producers, which makes non-producers become lazy and uncouth, and producers produce less or not at all, because regulations and taxes have discouraged them. Ayn Rand, in “Atlas Shrugged,” called welfare recipients, “Looters,” which isn’t a bad description. All welfare, regardless of whether it be food, housing, medical care, or anything ‘free,’ debilitates the receiver, and harms the producer. Anything “Free,” will always have an endless supply of glad recipients, regardless of its’ origin. “Freebies,” legislated and passed by government to “help,” or “because they need it,” will always cause bankruptcy, and eventually, as I all history so far, collapse.
Is there less crime, now that capital punishment has practically disappeared? No, but in the name of what, has it disappeared? The 8th Amendment, about “Cruel and unusual punishment?” How about the 4th, which says we must be, “Safe in our persons, houses, and effects?” Capital punishment, is the logical punishment for rapists, murderers, and the like, rather than life in prison, which actually is a very ‘cruel punishment,’ itself. Capital punishment’s cost, is virtually nothing, compared to a yearly cost of a Harvard education, for imprisonment.
Crime today, Is out of control, and prisons are so full of inmates who should have been executed years ago, that Judges turn criminals loose, further causing more crime by criminals, who probably became such, by growing up in single parent ‘families,’ living in public housing.
Were Americans starving before food stamps came on line in 1972? Of course not. Food stamps and every other sort or welfare, destroys those who would, should, and always did, work for their food. Now, they didn’t have to work to eat. “Work to eat or go hungry,” for 200 years, worked out fine. Beginning in 1972, it was no longer necessary to work to eat. The deficit increased, as did the non-productive sector of society, with what were then called “Food Stamps.”
FDR began the first public housing in1934. Did Americans not have housing before 1934? Of course they did! They had to work for it, which worked out wonderfully for 200 years.
I can go on and on about how America has slowly fallen into an abyss of crime, laziness, worthless-ness, inflation, pointless wars, a dollar which is now worth about a penny in buying power, compared to less than a hundred years ago. Major cities are becoming un-inhabitable. It is now dangerous to walk in New York’s Times Square. Did we, as citizens, pass laws and welfare, which has destroyed us? No, it was politicians passing laws which gave everyone ‘free’ things (welfare) in all facets of our lives, which bought votes to keep themselves in office, presidents who signed it into law, endless increases in government and bureaucracy, and of course inflation, which paid the bills and destroyed the currency.
America has it all wrong. We must tax and regulate the rich and productive class, to keep the un-productive alive, healthy, nourished, happy, and unpunished. The result is American cities are dangerous beyond belief, jails and nursing homes are full, and items for sale, are no longer a nickel, but $2.00. The lie is that welfare of any kind, is wonderful, kind, and necessary, for those in need. The exact opposite, is what is needed, and that is for government to ‘Get out of the way,’ and let nature, freedom, capitalism, and logic take its course. This will never happen, so smart people take out insurance policies of gold and silver, to guard against inflation, which in no nation, has it ever been stopped, short of collapse.
Are the tens of thousands of government-issued rules, regulations, and taxes, all supposedly designed to keep us safe, healthy, and happy, helping us to be so, or are they continuing to destroy our energy, self- esteem, logic, currency, and strength? Have any inventions of anything receiving a patent, been discovered or invented, by anyone receiving welfare? Did welfare help to discover or invent the telephone, television, transistor, airplane, automobile, truck, train, newspaper, radio, computer, movie, theatre, escalator, elevator, plow, tractor, or any of a thousand things we use daily? No, it has always been the individual who was free, well educated, from a two-parent family, who received no welfare, but used his God given brain, to give America and the world all the things we now have and use automatically, without even considering their origins. They were all from free people, with no help from government or welfare, which is destroying us now, collectively.
The decline of our currency, from 100% to about 1% of purchasing power, could be compared to Russia, whose ruble is now a bit over a penny. Is it possible for you and me to fix what’s going on and wrong? Other than voting for candidates who promise to fix it; not much. We simply have to protect ourselves with gold and silver. I know of no other item to use as a protection.
