Dictionary definition of “Rewards: “Something given for service or merit.” In other words, a reward is something earned or deserved. A child may be given a reward for doing their chores, or learning the multiplication table, as an example. Use of a credit card, may receive a reward for its use, in the form of discount or rebate. Any other ‘reward’ given, when nothing has been done to earn that reward, is not only pointless, but expensive and breeds irresponsibility.
All welfare, are rewards for doing nothing. Freebies or rewards for being lazy, poor, or stupid, if they are voluntary; are fine. I often give a dollar to a gal who sits in front of my local post office and plays her accordion. She’s not bright, not very intelligent, but I love to give her a dollar, as do lots of people. She has earned it!
When illegals receive cell phones, credit cards, and live in a hotel, that is disgusting, but it happens constantly in New York. Trump and America has had a belly full of New York’s caring for illegals. We just want them out of here.
If an employee is paid to be sick or taking a vacation, that may be a reward for being an exceptional employee, and their pay may take that into consideration.
When I buy my food at my local grocery store, I will get a 10 cent gasoline discount for every hundred dollars I spend. No problem, I earned it.
It Started With FDR
Before Franklin Delano Roosevelt became President, there was no welfare in America. No public housing, food stamps, medical care, or any of what now exists, and which eats a huge part of the expenditures the federal government pays each month, day, week, or whatever. It’s these welfare payments, which have caused inflation, crime, and a general lowering of national intelligence, and an increase in national crime.
Welfare has become so common, that it’s expected by those who receive it, and politicians will give the excuse of, “Well, poor people have to eat, don’t they?” Or “Sick people have to be cared for, or who else will do it?” There are a hundred excuses used, which merely weakens the receivers, and harm everyone by lowering the value of our dollars, and causing huge increase in crime.
How much of our taxes go to those who pay none? Ask any fireman which neighborhoods are the most fire prone, and which neighborhoods cause the most fireman injuries and property loss. Ask any cop, where he may dread working, and he will tell you it’s in neighborhoods populated by people who have been rewarded for doing nothing.
Before welfare, there were no abandoned neighborhoods, with abandoned cars, filth and trash scattered about. Before welfare, there were poor neighborhoods, middle class neighborhoods, and wealthy neighborhoods, as well as the same classes of citizens. That’s normal, and the result of freedom. Before welfare, if you wanted to eat and have a home, it was necessary to work for it, and those who didn’t work, would die maybe, or be cared for by relatives or their church. Ever watch the “Rocky” series of movies? Rocky and his girl friend lived in a tiny row house, probably in the “K&A” neighborhood in Philly. Tiny houses in narrow streets, but were cared for and beloved by their owners, because they were bought and paid for with work and earnings.
Before welfare began, America had been suffering from the ‘great depression,’ which had been going on for about three years. Roosevelt and his Democrat Congress, passed the Social Security bill, the CCC bill, which was the Civilian Conservation Corps, and a host of other welfare, which, four years later, hadn’t healed the depression, but only made America more deeply in debt.
How did everyone eat, sleep, and live, before welfare? I wasn’t here, but they did! The dollar kept its value and price, and there was no inflation. Gold was at the same price for a hundred years, as were eggs, gasoline, clothing, and new homes. When Roosevelt’s ‘programs’ got in gear, everything ‘went up,’ in prices, including gold, and prices have never gone “down.” Nickel “White Tower’ Hamburgers, no longer exist, but I remember them, since I am ancient. I grew up in my Dad’s drug store in Washington D.C., and I remember the prices of things we sold, and they were about a twenty fifth of what they are now, or less. Nickel Cokes, Nickel Hershey bars, dollar a week for a pass which got you rides on all busses and streetcars for a week, and I went to school on streetcars and busses for a cent and a half, for a ‘school ticket.’ Which, if I remember, came in a book of 65, for a dollar.
Why not let nature take its course? Who cares for old or sick animals? Other animals? No. “Volunteerism,” is churches, neighbors, relatives, or friends helping those in need, and before welfare, that was really a wonderful habit most of us still use to care for the needy. My wife and I do It regularly. We feed the birds, which I guess is welfare, so excuse us. It is against nature to have the weak subsidized by the strong, and if nature had made that mistake, there would be no more of anything left.
All civilizations in History, have failed by either losing a war, or most commonly, by fiscal bankruptcy, caused by foolish spending. Paper money became the common cause of inflation, because there has never been a shortage of trees to print money, as in Monopoly. As I wrote last week, in Babylon, B.C. 1800, there was no inflation, because the ‘shekel’ was a quarter ounce of silver, and there was no paper to print money. On my wall, I have a silver Roman Denarius, which dates back to maybe 1200 A.D. The Roman Caesars began ‘clipping’ their silver coins, thereby reducing their silver content, and eventually began diluting the silver with lead or copper, thereby causing inflation, because the coinage was worth less and bought less. How did they know? Obviously, the coins looked cheaper, weighed differently, and only the purer ones were favored, the ‘new’ ones accepted, only by ‘legal tender’ laws.
When American silver coins were not made of silver, beginning in 1964, silver coind disappeared so fast, that non-silver ones couldn’t be mast enough to keep stores in business. I’ve got a whole ‘bag’ of silver quarters I’ve had for decades, and I love to open it and run those real silver quarters through my hands!
America, a hundred years ago, was a nation of workers, producers, inventors, exporters, and wealth. Now, we are a shadow of our former glory and prosperity, regardless of the fake statistics the D.C. Swamp showers on us. Protect yourself with us, at a 1 percent one-time fee, and no monthly payments ever.
