Risk

I take all types of risks every day, as do you, the reader. Life is full of risks and there is even a field of an endeavor called “Risk Management.” I risk my safety when I go out in my car that some reckless or drunk driver won’t crash into me. I take a risk when I go into a restaurant. (Our favorite Mexican restaurant had a disastrous fire, a couple hours after we had enjoyed a meal there yesterday). I take a risk that my bank will not fail. Flying is a risk, as is even climbing a set of stairs or bathing. Thousands die in bath tubs every year.

When you order something ‘on line,’ you are taking a risk that you will receive the item as it was listed. When you order gold or silver from David, Melissa, or Morgen, you take a risk that you won’t received it, even though we do close to a hundred million dollars in business every year, and have had an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau since I started it 48 years ago. The risk you take when purchasing from us is as minimal as it could possibly be.

We do no advertising, have no ‘home office,’ because it is in our homes. Ever wonder why we seem to be the only, or virtually the only web site, which has prices posted? Let me tell you why. If you go to a firm which doesn’t post their prices, it is probably because they want you to call them so they can sell you something they make a lot of profit or commission, or they want to “Bait and Switch” you. On last Friday’s (August 22) Journal, there was a full page ad by some obviously crooked as a pretzel outfit that is selling silver. I have no idea what a full page ad in the Wall Street journal costs, but guess who will pay for it? The outfit’s foolish customers, if they get any. They also want go get your name and phone number, so they can call you endlessly with their latest ‘sale item.’ We NEVER call anyone, as we figure that if you want us, you will call us. When someone calls you, you can bet that it isn’t for your benefit! We depend on word of mouth and reputation, and it has worked well for 48 years. Maybe our 48 year history, makes us the longest lasting, most reliable, and most reasonable dealer in America? We think so.

Why take a risk with your assets? We measure our wealth in dollars, just like we measure lengths in inches, feet, and miles. We measure building heights in storeys, speed in miles per hour, weights in ounces or pounds, and liquid measure in gallons. Land sizes are measured in acres, home sizes in square feet, temperatures in degrees, and electricity in volts, amperes, and watts. Suppose a measure changed? Suppose inches, volts or gallons changed? Just imagine the confusion! However, dollars change every single day, and 99% of the citizenry watching prices go up, either don’t realize it is the dollar, which we measure our wealth with, is slowly failing or collapsing, or just ‘prices going up.’ Since I’m 91, ask me what prices were when I was a kid, and I grew up in a marvelous 2600 square foot 6 bedroom home, my parents bought for $3,300 in 1934. Or maybe the 3400 square foot home we now live in which was built in 1887 for $8,000, and now is worth over a million decaying U.S. dollars.

If your boat leaks, the risk of it sinking is high, and you really shouldn’t go fishing in it. If your tires are bald, it is a poor risk to take a trip in that car. If you have a can of food that is bulging, the risk of eating food from it is high. If you save in losing value dollars, your risk is high, and for a long term. a disaster. To avoid that risk, get out of them.
Your and my government, is unable to balance its budget, can’t stop spending, and pays its bills with paper money and computer entries. Has Trump realized this and is attempting to cut spending? Yes, and God Bless him, but his tariffs are hurting business, prices are going up, and many feel the stock market is shaky. I have gold and silver, which go up as do all prices, which means that they are a constant protection against inflation. There is no risk in owning gold and silver, and getting them from us is as low a risk as betting that the sun won’t shine tomorrow!
