I’m not at all happy with Donald Trump, and I think he’s killed any chance of keeping the Congress in Republican hands., come November. After telling everyone that he does what he does “Because of my own morality,” I am reminded of a phrase on a Turner Classic Movie about WW II, when John Wayne was acting almost exactly like Trump, when his girlfriend said that he, not paying any attention to his advisors, said of him, “You only need yourself.”
Getting back to occupation and ownership of a land: C urrently, everyone’s upset about Trump wanting to own Greenland. As of interest, it was named ‘Greenland,’ because everyone was to believe that it was warmer than Iceland which it isn’t. Land occupation and ownership, is nothing new. Take Britain, as an example. “The sun never sets on the British Empire,” was the common phrase. The following, are the lands which Britain conquered, and needed to be conquered, as they were primitive. Britain civilized them! Here are some of them:
Honduras, Bermuda, Antigua, Barbados, Nova Scotia, Jamaica, Canada, Singapore, Sierra Leone, Cape of Good Hope, America, India, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Burma, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, etc. Britain controlled one fourth of Earth’s surface, at one time.
When the Pilgrims landed in 1620, America consisted of hundreds of various Indian tribes; none of which could read or write, and their language was peculiar to their tribe, and probably no other tribe could communicate with them. They probably had not yet discovered the wheel, guns, property, wool, cotton, or even the most basics of already discovered nice things, which Britain had been using for probably over a hundred years. It is said that reading and writing were discovered in 800 B.C.
Spain was another nation which occupied and controlled foreign lands. Remember, in 1492, Columbus landed in the Caribbean, thinking it was America, but while he was there, he invaded and ‘owned’ Cuba, Mexico, Yucatan, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Chile, Granada, and even here in the U.S. Spain had colonies in Alabama, Arizona, the Carolinas, Colorado, and New Mexico. We had to actually buy Florida from Spain. When they invaded Mexico, it was inhabited by black Aztecs, who quickly intermarried with the Spanish, and we now have the brown Negroes. Spain brought civilization to Mexico, and every other place they invaded, as did Britain.
Can you imagine what we would be like today, if civilization hadn’t been brought here? The same with India, as an example: Britain brought them architecture, railroads, the English language, and literally, basic civilization, which allowed them to grow, just like every other land which succumbed to exposure and civilization, such as language, mathematics, books, metal tools, electricity and steam, as prime examples.
Greenland has basically one town of 50,000, and they have their own language, and civilization basics from Europe. They say they don’t want to be ‘Americanized,’ but want to stay where they are, just like ever there, land which was occupied and owned by an educated, civilized nation.
There are no deeds to Greenland.
Trump has said he will not attempt to take it by force, but I think it’s pretty obvious, that Russia and China will ‘take it,’ by whatever means they have, just like Spain and Britain took the other lands. If the Earth is warming, and maybe it is, but NOT by internal combustion engines! If carbon dioxide is increasing by a hundredth of a percent, that’s great, because it makes things grow! If it is warming, the Arctic could be a short cut for ocean going vessels, and Trump wants that to be controlled by us, not them. He’s correct, but of course deadly wrong about his tariffs. I hope the Supremes knock them off, and maybe Trump can apologize for all the wrongs and hatreds he has generated world-wide. Don’t hold your breath, as he has never apologized for anything, as far as I can remember.
