I am not a deeply religious person, but love the miracles as recoded in the Bible or history, and especially our American history. Maybe they’re true? If so, did God look down from His Heaven, look at the travail young King George had visited upon his newest colony, and say to Himself maybe: ”Those are nice people, hard workers, honest, want freedom from onerous taxation, and they are being sorely abused. I think I’ll help?”
For all practical purposes, the American Revolution was impossible to win, except for a few, what today might seem to be, several ‘miracles’, which rewarded us with victory.
Did God provide a mysterious cloud to keep the Brits from seeing George Washington removing his troops away from certain bloodshed by the Brits, as he commandeered all boats available and used them to move his hundreds of troops out of the King’s reach? When Washington miraculously moved his forces across the mostly frozen Delaware River near New Hope, Pennsylvania, so they could attack sleeping British troops in Trenton, was that so unbelievable, that is might be called a ‘miracle?’ When Ben Franklin used his charm to get aid from France to help us win an un-winnable war, wasn’t that a one in a thousand possibility? It worked, and they came aboard, helped us, and that intensified the hatred of Britain for France. Whether it was Valley Forge, when most humans would have died from bitter below zero cold, and even down to the final action, when with the aid of France, the Brits were surrounded and had to surrender, had God thought America was worth it, and sent forth divine help?
Did The Heavenly Father look down on Paris, and decide to keep Hitler from destroying one of earth’s most beautiful cities? Did He look down on America and see our most beautiful natural wonders, such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite, with its neighboring giant thousand year old redwoods, and ruminate to Himself and consult with his Son about another earthly preservation? Did They decide that these natural wonders They had created several thousand years earlier, must be preserved? They have been, and it seemed a miracle when it happened.
If you are a Bibliophile, was there a giant flood, which allowed a tiny family to populate a then ‘New World,’ after the old corrupt one had been drowned out of existence? Did He provide rainbows as a commemorative? Did He part the waters so the Jews could escape their imprisonment? Was Moses found in the bulrushes accidentally? Did Moses indeed come down from the mountain with Heaven provided gold plates in his hand with the Ten Commandments on them, as the book of Leviticus, Chapter 20 records? Did He resurrect his Son after He had been crucified, raised from the dead, and initiated ”Christianity?”
History is full of wonders, and the blessings poured down on us throughout our brief 250 year history, such as thousands of patents for airplanes, steel plows, elevators, cotton gins, motion pictures, light bulbs, telephones, radios, televisions, computers, and literally ‘all that heaven allows,’ have made us the beacon of freedom, which has influenced all nations desirous of copying us, to their respective benefits. The Almighty must have influenced Catharine Lee Bates to ascend Pike’s Peak, and conceive of and write, “America the Beautiful. “ I wish He’d help get rid of the in-singable, absurd, ‘Star Spangled Banner,’ and make “America the Beautiful,” our National Anthem! Please!
Getting back to our current time, President Donald Trump, by his own devices, has alienated our friends and allies, with his Iran War, resultant inflation, installed absurd tariffs on our friends, enlarged the size of the DC. ‘Swamp’ to unbelievable size and paper money cost, making the federal debt probably unable to ever be paid, other than with ‘Monopoly Money.’ Trump’s unquenchable, seemingly always misplaced ego, blabber mouth, continual lies and exaggerations, must have originated ‘down below,’ and they must be giving great joy to Democrats, because his Presidency his reached an all time historic low favorable rating, and it is carrying the House and Senate mid-term elections, in serious doubt, as to giving Republicans a repeat of their now slim majority in both Houses.
Have the Democrats’ split with the communist “Democratic Socialists of America,’ swayed the elections enough, to favor a Republican win?”
Trump ran on sealing the borders, no foreign wars, balancing the budget, reducing government size, and a few other items, which made me and millions of other Americans, send him money and vote for him. He won, and aside from sealing the border, he has accomplished none of his promises. Rather the reverse, with Iran war, tariffs, inflation, wasting ammunition, et al. When I see his face constantly on the boob tube, I actually feel nauseous, and change the channel. All the ‘I want my name on everything,’ the Presidential Family in a bit-coin super-profitable affair, possible ‘insider’ stock trading, and even a wedding paid for with a pro Russian non-entity, Trump has blemished his reputation and approval rating, down to the high 20% range. As I have said in previous columns, has Trump deliberately ruined and abolished a Republican mid-term victory? It seems so.
Here’s the unavoidable truth, which I have taken so long to get to, which is important. If the Democrats win control of either or both Houses of Congress, you can kiss the sealed borders goodbye, and say hello to a plethora of even more spending, and a possible total collapse of the U.S. dollar, which has already collapsed over 95%. If the Democrats win control of congress, a Trump veto will count as nothing, and millions of illegals will swarm across our borders, as per Joe Biden. If Republicans don’t maintain their slim control of both Houses, our future looks grim.
Is it possible, in spite of Donald Trump, that some above the earth, an invisible force, could look down on us, and again say: “Look at them Son, they’ve done it again. Their ‘money’ has become almost worthless, they have started another war, which We got them out of a couple of times before, and now they’re possibly self destructing themselves with their reputations and actions.. They never seem to learn. Shall We get involved?”
We’ll see, won’t we?
