(If there is no actual silver shortage, there certainly should or will be one. If I owned a silver mine and the price fell by close to 50%, I’d shut the mine down and wait till prices went up! Then there would be a shortage! As it is, Sunshine Mint, which makes many silver products, has ordered new machinery to double its capacity, but it won’t be in place till the first quarter of next year, so we will have to tolerate the current situation. All orders for 10 oz bars and silver rounds will now take as long as ten weeks to deliver. Sorry, but we can do no better!)
Trust in, and giving support to a false god, can bankrupt one as well as ruin one’s life and nation. One of the ways America is being killed, is by having total faith and trust in government, as if it were a god, and then being forced to support it with confiscatory taxes. I can think of nothing that the godlike federal government has ever indulged in, which has worked efficiently, or even at all, in some cases. Examples are not hard to find.
Take the interstate highways as an example. The states didn’t pay for them nor even want them. The interstates have ruined thousands of small business people when they bypassed their towns. Literally hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs and businesses as the interstates were built, which totally bypassed their communities. The interstates were supposed to go TO the big cities, and not THROUGH them, but this original plan was quietly ignored, creating endless suburbs and expensive commuting. The interstates are just one example of huge government ignoring the best interests and desires of the populace. Everyone will disagree with this, because it happened so long ago, and everyone is used to the interstates, but it happens to be true. The interstates made trucking cheap, destroyed the passenger trains and much of the freight which railroads used to carry. It allowed you and I to drive just about anywhere and do it quickly, but at huge cost of miles put on expensive cars, huge gasoline and diesel fuel consumed, air putrefied, millions of tractor trailers on the roads, small towns and their businesses ruined, railroads ruined, big cities harmed, and on it can go, whether you agree or not. I witnessed this, since I am old. Believe me, it was far better before the interstates! US 66, which was the main line road from Chicago west, still has millions of adherents, who drive the remains of it in the west to savor the colorful relics of businesses which remain. I drove from coast to coast many times before the interstates, and it was slow, but colorful, interesting, and enjoyable. If you were in a hurry, you took a train or flew.
There are hundreds of godlike government mistakes, and they are in general the various bureaucracies, and what they have spawned. The Department of Transportation (DOT), is just one. How about the DOE or Department of Education, which educates no one, and eats paper dollars by the hundreds of millions each year. There probably isn’t a single school principal who wouldn’t like to get rid of the DOE, as it is a costly nuisance. There are hundreds of expensive bureaucracies and sub-bureaucracies, which are killing America with their cost and pointless regulations and red tape. Yet, the public has been so blinded by godlike government and the media, that they automatically believe that we would be lost without them. This is absolutely true. When there is an accident, the public automatically thinks that when the NTSB bureaucrats rush in to “investigate,” that it is totally necessary. An aircraft crash, no matter how minor, can take the bureaucrats months and even years to ’examine’ and cost a bundle. Can’t a railroad or airline determine what caused a crash? They always did before the DOT. Couldn’t they still?
The HUD (Housing and Urban Development) has ruined urban America with no down payment mortgages to the worthless, and countless other schemes which destroyed urban areas and housing, rather than ’developing’ them. Still, the Congress appropriates billions every year so that this outfit can continue to destroy America. Endless bureaucracies, once founded and in existence for a while, achieve a godlike importance, with everyone looking to them for regulations, handouts, and subsidies.
We all expect to have to take our shoes off and have our luggage searched by bureaucrats, but why? Have the x-ray machines ceased working? They don’t check most of the freight carried, but grandma has to be searched? And of course there are now over a million on the terrorist list at airports. People have been doing this for so long now, that they automatically expect it, and think it’s great! It’s absurd. National forests are poorly managed, and there is no Constitutional provision for government even owning ’public lands’ in the first place. It goes on and on, year after year. People look up to godlike government, as if it provided something other than getting in the way and costing a fortune. All bureaucracies provide, is red tape, and especially at the federal level. We are worshipping a false god, which provides nothing, costs us dearly, and deserves to be eliminated.
Federal mandates force states, counties, and cities, to bow down to this false god, do obedience to it, and paying through the nose for it. No one in D.C. wants to eliminate one single bureaucracy, and new ones are formed yearly. As in all nations past, when no one stopped government growth, it eventually swallowed the populace, and the nation fell into a pile of rubble. Bureaucracies act as judge and juror, with their various rules and regulations not being passed by the legislature, and therefore being non-laws. Who gives them permission to lord it over us?.
As I finish this, it is 9/11, the 7th anniversary of that terrible day in our history. Godlike government, insists that the World Trade Centers fell because of a couple of planes crashing into them, even though this is preposterous. No building has ever collapsed from flames, and the World Trade Centers were perhaps the strongest buildings ever built. They insist that the Pentagon was crashed into by a huge plane, even though its supposed trajectory is impossible for even the most experienced pilots to fly, much less an Arab with little flying experience. The public has been shown the Pentagon scene a thousand times, with no plane wreckage, no wings, fuselage, engines, or other parts, but they believe the fairy tale story of 9/11. “If the government says it’s so, it is,” is the attitude of the worshippers and dependents. JFK was shot dead in Dallas 45 years ago, and 95% of the public really believes that Lee Harvey Oswald did it with a crude rifle from a 6th floor window, even though it was impossible for him to do it. Worshippers and believers question nothing coming from DC, regardless of its impossibility. There are hundreds of books and tapes about both of the above, and I suggest you investigate.
When a populace has become so trusting and blinded by authority, there is trouble. The Revolutionaries didn’t trust nor believe in Mother England, and revolted. This gave us the once grand United States of America. Even then, there were those who still worshipped and believed in King George. Fortunately, they were in the minority. Today, no matter how nutty and idiotic a government pronouncement, program, or action may be, everyone believes that godlike government is responsible for their life, well being, safety, prosperity, and happiness, when the reverse is true. Can thinking be restored? I say no, but we can all hope.
In monarchies, the populace bows down to the rulers, kings, and lords. America’s ’monarchy’ sits in Washington D.C. and is run by 436 mostly ego maniacs, who insist that they are of superior intelligence, and therefore should rule over us, as if by divine authority. They create bureaucracies which also insist that they are of superior intelligence and should rule over us. It goes on, till the last little termite bureaucrat also thinks he or she is of supreme importance, and that we must be subservient to their whims. It makes me ill.
