Pork Squeezings?

(We got back late last night, so this will have to do till I get myself together.  Yes, the MS Amsterdam is a fine ship.  We cruised over 4,000 miles, and visited ten ports in Alaska, from Ketchikan to Kodiak.  Gained the usual five pounds.)

Those infernal suicide bombers will not stop, and they aren’t limited to Iraq and Afghanistan, neither of which American troops should have ever entered.  The suiciders will come here too, and especially if that nut case ’pastor’ begins burning Qurans.  Of course he shouldn’t do it, any more than an Arab should burn Bibles.  Why not?  What’s the point, other than to infuriate?  He’s supposed to be a Christian, and that’s not in the Christian Pastor’s book of rules.  But getting back to the pork squeezings.

If a Muslim eats, or even touches pork, he will never get to heaven, nor get all those virgins.  So here’s the way to stop suicide bombers instantly.  Swear that we will pour pork gravy or squeezings all over their dead bodies, and any Muslims who are also killed with his bomb.  That should stop it once and for all time.

I see that gold has gone up another $15 while I was away, and silver $1.50 or thereabouts.  The Dow just stays where it is, which is about where it was ten years ago, I think.  While I was cruising Alaska, I met a lot of people.  Everyone wants to know what you retired from or do for a living, which is normal.  I only gave out three or four cards, because out of the 1390 on that ship, I suppose I met about 50, and they were so ignorant of gold and silver, that it was amazing.  “Gold?  You sell jewelry?  What’s bullion?  Why would anyone want gold or silver?  Where would you keep it?  What would you do with it?  I hear its over $1200 now.  Shouldn’t I sell my jewelry?”  The total ignorance of the general public about what real, honest, historic money throughout the ages is, that I still can’t believe it.  We all mingle with our friends who are of probably the same political persuasion, but when you meet total strangers and strike up a conversation with them, and it gets around to economics, that’s a whole new experience.

When you meet a guy who is an expert in something, its really great to pick their brains and learn about their knowledge.  Denny Beardslee from Michigan is one I met on the ship.  Great guy who used to be an Oldsmobile dealer.  They took his dealership away from him and they stopped making Olds.  He kept his showroom and uses it as a sort of showroom for his collection of Oldsmobiles and other neat collections, such as his Wurlitzer band organ.  (I’d kill for one of those!).  He knows the entire history of Oldsmobile from its beginning before the turn of the century when Ransom Olds started it.  He’s got some rare ones.  Remember the Reo truck?  The R E O stood for Ransom E. Olds who started it.  Reos lasted till the 50’s I think, and I remember them well, but now I know what the letters R.E.O. stood for.  Of course kids remember the rock group that copied the truck name.

Lots of conversations with lots of people, and it was a fun cruise.  Will gold and silver continue to go up?  Do you think the prices of lettuce, gasoline, cars, lumber, or any consumer good will go down?  Then why do you think the price of gold and silver will go down, other than for brief corrections?  Gold and silver are tangible wealth.  Physical things like butter or tires, only they aren’t consumed like butter and tires.  They are physical, tangible, historic MONEY, just like they used in the Bible, and as the buck slides, the prices of all physical, tangible things will go up in dollar prices. Same stuff, but dollar prices will go up, just like the nickel Coke is the same Coke as it is now for over a dollar.  Gold and silver’s logic, is so damned obvious and sensible, at least to me, that I am still dumbfounded at the public’s stupidity.  Just like all the others in history who believed in government paper money, they’ll live to regret it. G O O D.  (Get Out Of Dollars).
