Putin vs. Hitler

Many have wondered why the Russians aren’t outraged at Putin, for his cruel, un-called for, attempted destruction, of innocent Ukraine.  Putin calls his actions ‘getting rid of Hitler.’  Hitler has been gone for 40 years, but a comparison between Hitler and Putin is uncanny, and especially when most of the Germans under Hitler, and most of the Russians under Putin, are being kept blindfolded by propaganda, which paints both as heroes, not monstrous villains.  Next, is a paragraph from page 185 of a book written by Thomas Sowell in 2005, titled “Black Rednecks and White Liberals.”  The title, has nothing to do with my subject, but the book is well written and scrupulously researched on several subjects, and this is part of his exegesis on Germany.

“Hitler counted on no enthusiasm for war, on the part of the German people.  On the contrary, he preceded his invasion of Poland, with elaborate charades of seeking peace.  In order to make it appear that the Poles had attacked Germany, he staged border incidents, using Germans in Polish uniforms to fire weapons, and left concentration camp inmates dying, as “casualties” of the purported Polish attacks.  None of this was expected to fool the outside world.  It was considered necessary to fool the German people, who were insulated by a government-controlled press, suggests a serious difference between the aims and values of the Nazis, and the aims and values of the people whom they were leading and misleading.  Differences between the goals and imperatives of the Nazis, and those of the millions of Germans living outside the Reich were even clearer.”

Now read the above paragraph, substituting Putin for Hitler and Polish people for German people.  Both control and controlled the press and media. Both did almost the exact same thing, 40 years apart. Hitler needed an excuse for attacking Poland, and there was none.  Putin needed an excuse for attacking Ukraine, and there is none.  Both were and are, dictators.  Both were and are, without a trace or any excuse for what they did and are doing.  Both were and are, drunk with the desire for unlimited power, regardless of the cost to humanity and property. Both were and are, so greedy for power, that they can’t and couldn’t see the ultimate end of themselves and their nation. Hitler’s initial attacking of Poland, caused the Brits to stupidly declare war on Germany, and I certainly hope Putin’s attack on innocent Ukraine, does not continue as Hitler’s attack on innocent Poland did, which actually started WW II.  I am desirous of Putin’s end being like Hitler’s, but not at the end of another World War.  We can hope that Putin’s absurd desire to rebuild the Soviets, will not imitate Hitler’s desire to conquer Europe.

I have always loved the idea of electric propulsion, and have always had a love of streetcars and electric railways.  I built an electric car from a BMW Isetta, with a two horsepower, series would D.C. electric motor, and ten, 12 volt car batteries.   The new Ford electric pickup got a rave review in last week’s Journal, so I visited a local Ford dealership, to inquire about buying one. “A year and a half,” is the waiting time.  They will take orders, but will not deliver at the current price.

Bit Coin has not recovered, and there is rising skepticism about its future, since it has no ‘value’ as a measurement, as do dollars, and other items, such as ‘gallons’ of water, ‘pounds’ of flour or sugar, ‘volts, amps, and watts’ of electric power, and of course ‘ounces’ of gold and silver.  Colorado Gold did well over $100 million last year, as we always do, and with not even a quarter’s worth of advertising.  A recent NPR discussion on advertising, asked whether it does any good or not.  One large business ceased all advertising in the eastern part of its nation, and kept the ads in the western part.  It made no difference in their business.  A quote from Department store originator John Wanamaker was, “Only half of my advertising does any good, but I can’t figure out which half.”  Is word of mouth and reputation best, as well as cheapest?  I was in the ice cream business, owned ten stores, and became the largest seller of bulk ice cream in Philadelphia in 1970, (100,000 gallons), and did no advertising   Owned three hotels in Silverton Colorado, and did no advertising.
